A good 225 60 16 tire for $ 100?

I have a 2000 SE all stock to my knowledge and my current tires are Eagle LS's. (not impressed!)

Can anyone recommend a all around solid $100 tire that is 225/60/16.

I live in and out of the Smokey mountains, meaning half time curvy roads and half not.

Main aspects I was looking for:

Cornering, noise and tread life.

95 would be my highest speed ever.

I was looking at Yokohama yk580's, but this whole tire search has become a huge headache with the little time I have to search.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Nimo

Tire Rack is offering some pretty good rebates on that size right now. The Bridgestone Turanza's are a good deal at 434 for a set of 4. you want to go lower, the Goodrich, Kuhmo Ecsta And General Altimax's are good pricing as well.

General Altimax HP's are on my car now and I really like them minus their performance in deep snow, but I think my next set is going to be Kumho Ecsta's.

I run kumho ASX tires right now, sure they are really good and grippy IMO, but I will warn you, tread life sucks. I'd say maybe 30-35k miles if all you drove was highway. I will be lucky to get 15-20k out of mine with my all city driving and just the way I drive.

kuhmo ecsta are not bad....generals are garbage wear out fast and suck in the snow

Bridgestone insignia's or Firestone FR710's.

Very good tires around your price range.

bridgestone is a decent mid range tire and never been a fan of firestone

look up cooper cs4 very good tire and in that common of a size it shouldnt be an issue finding it for less then 100 per tire.....they wear great...only bad thing about them is they are a silca tread compound which will make noise when cold but is also what makes them sticky when warm....good through the snow as well, I sold tires for 2 years and did alot of product schooling and what not....hell i have michelin primacy mxv4 on my 06 great in the rain and dry but terrible in the snow....coopers are way better and cost less

all depends on a specific tire. kumho ecsta asx are nice, ast's blow dick and i wouldnt put them on even for free.

same thing with generals. i know overall all of them have a silly soft sidewall.

im personally leaning towards yk580's myself. heard good things about that tire. not really a high performance tire as advertised, but for the price i could care less.

im a cooper guy i say cs4 H/V rated for cheap... mine lasted 2 years

its a mid priced tire with high grade quality my whole family runs them sold so many its unreal....really nice tire IIRC they spent 200million dollars on developing just the tread compound not even considering tread design.....great tire

Thanks everyone! Great feedback!

I forgot to add they should handle well in wet conditions, snow is not a concern for me.

Duhh, ok... I haven't noticed it with mine, but I assume you're basing that off of personal experience so idk what to think lol

YouTube the tire I mentioned. They use a mustang on a wet course.
It's the cheaper zpt version that is horrible in wet

altimax have sidewall so thin its not funny thats why. id throw them on econoboxes tho.
