ok so i bought the car about a year ago and it was driving horrible!! i found out that two coils and the icm were done. so i went to my local pick-a-part and bam, fixed it...kind of. the idle started getting kind of ruff as in going from 800-1300 and kinda chugging. so i started snooping around, and got it scanned and found out the o2 sensors were bad so i was like dang. so i went out and got a new front o2 sensor because i was told the second one only served a purpose of telling me if the cat was clogged and i was told that the cat was not clogged and it was good. so once i did all that the car started not acerlating right so i changed the spark plugs to copper ac delco. when i did that the car started doing great. and now when i accerlate the car seems like it sputters/pauses then surges i guess you could say. if i gradually go wot off the line it studders and kinda shakes then gets up and goes. im thinking maybe the injectors but i dont wanna spend 85 bucks a peice just to find out that wasnt it. any ideas or anything would help. thanks in advance

I dunno guy.. I've had a few 3.8's and well into 200K miles.. never had an injector fail yet. I've seen one or two fail here or there on other folks cars..but not all 6 at one time. How about this.. I'll give you some questions and answers.. then before we spend any money... likely we'll have it fixed. Sound like a deal?

How many miles since you put the plugs in?
You are correct, in 99 the rear O2 doesn't affect fueling.

I had similar issues with my gt and i ended up replacing my cat(i knew it was clogged), both 02 sensors, all new plugs, and wires, and coil pack for 1,4. I'm not sure if you included wires when you replaced your plugs, but maybe look into that too if you haven't, i got mine for $23. Also make sure you don't have a cracked plug. When i replaced all of my plugs with new ones, I didn't realize that I put a new, cracked, plug in. I am by no means an expert with these cars, but i would look at replacing wires if you haven't already, and look at all your plugs and make sure they are still good.

i havnt got the car scanned just yet but how often do wires need changed? probably would have been a good idea to change those when i changed the sparkies. would a misfire come up on a scanner from like autozone or anything? last time i went and got scanned from them they barely knew how to use the dang thing! i havnt been able to check the maf just yet just because i havent gotten the right wrench with the safety knob in it yet. you can get those at autozone pretty cheap? cause walmart didnt have it

So i pulled all sparkies out and checked for cracks and nothing but the middle one was a little more discolored than the rest with a reddish color on the tip of the metal part and on the porcelain but other than that looked good. Looked at the inside of the wires and looked alittle rusty and one of the boots was split alittle but still seated very well on the sparkie

Just because they are seated well on the plug doesn't mean they're making a good connection. Corrosion on the wires will lead to poor connections.

Ok so i ordered wires from Rock auto ac Delco's for 30 bucks shipped. But today I was going up a sight hill of an overpass and the car studdered so I'm hopeing tHis works

Don't forget the di-electric grease on both ends of the wires when you install them....

If you suspect injectors, you can have them cleaned and rebuilt with new pintles and internal sock filters. I sent mine to Mr Injector in Idaho for $16 each plus shipping. He will turn them around same day but it's 2 days shipping each way.
