a/c is posessed...

question: i have a 04 gp gt. one minute my ac will blow out of the front vents. then sometimes after i turn the car off and start it again its blowing out of the defrost but still set on front vents. it will stay like that for a while then ill go to start my car again and bam its coming out of the front vents again. can anyone help?​

There's a blender part of dash that can prevent air from being directed to properly selected area.. It's been awhile since I've looked into it n my old monte but I believe u have to replace the whole a/c selector piece in dash to fix.. Don't know the technical term

no dsmuts, when it starts blowing out of the defrost it stays that way no matter what position the vent selector is in. although i keep it on the front vents it comes out of the defrost. then i will say go to the store or wherever i go to start my car up and bam its coming out of the front vents full blast. then i turn the car off and if im lucky when i start it back up it will still be coming out of the front vents. but sometimes it will go right back to the defrost. now if im driving it and its coming out of the front vents and i move the selector to the floor or defrost it will stay on defrost and like i said i can turn the car off and sometimes it will just start blowing out of the front vents with the selector still on the front vents. it seems like turning the car off and then restarting sometimes helps...
