a/c delete pully.....thoughts...mpgs

Has anybody done the delete pully, and if so, did you gain any significant mpgs?

This is my 4th GP but its been a while since I had one. I got this car partly because my jeep commander gets 13 mpgs and I drive a little for work so I'm trying to squeeze every last mpg I can out of it.

Let me know if you have any other mpg tips. Thanx!

mpg tips? Most of it is how you drive. Let off the gas way before red lights, don't tailgate, and use cruse control(or just drive as if simulating it like I do) Being on the gas and off the gas back and forth kills freeway mpg and is bad for the trans. Other things are to make sure it's running right, tuneup, etc. And also don't let your car sit and idle for a long time. A few minutes warm-up time is all that's needed to get oil flowing and the pistons heated up in the morning.

Thanks Navy.. will do.

I'm Hoping for some tech type tips to. Maybe bigger or smaller gap in the plugs, changing the shift points, cold air intake , body weight reduction (both the car and me lol) and other tuning tips.

Its n/a. I'm pretty good with a solus, and I have access to a Bosch flasher pro. Im confused a little on plugs right now. Mitchell on demand says iridium but All Data says copper.. hmm lol.

Iridiums are stock and are 100k mile plugs. Coppers are said to work just as well but only last 15k miles. They are cheaper but require more often changes, it's up to you.

Also a solus doesn't change parameters as far as I know, never used a bosch flasher.

Also going back to the op, putting in an ac delete pulley should gain no improvements on the mpg's. It's the same as just not using it, so if you don't want to use it at all you can pull the fuse (since defrost uses it, so it will run in that mode)

Make sure the tires are inflated properly, next time you drop the trans pan and change the fluid/filter install a transgo shift kit (less slip for the trans.), clean the MAF (with proper MAF cleaner- NOT brake/carb cleaner), plugs/wires.

Since I drive a LOT of highway in my 00 GT (500mi./week minimal) I went with Irridiums and it runs just fine. See about ~410 per tank empty to full (this includes having a bunch of telco stuff riding around in the trunk all the time). I only do 5 over the speed limit usually and am easy on the gas. Think I can get a bit more out of it once I figure out my "Bank 1 lean" code. I have yet to track that one down...

You wont gain much if any by deleting the AC, as long as you drive around with it off. (Blower can be on, just not the actual AC, you can feel a decent difference when the clutch is engaged)

It's going to be 90% on how you drive. Never go above 2500rpm, keep your tires properly inflated, speed up going down hills, ease off the gas going up (dont use cruise control on hills) Use cruise control on flat stretches.

Seriously though, look up hyper-miling. Some of the stuff is sorta nuts (shutting the engine off and coasting down long hills) But about 75% of it is all good stuff. I can get over 30mpg on road trips with mixed interstate and backroads that are very hilly.

I was discussing hyper milling just the other day. Yea it's pretty crazy. My bro does it with his f150 and gets 21 mpgs lol.

Thanx guys for the help! I'm goin to play around a little with the ECM. I'll let you all know what results I get.
