'97 GTP to '00 GTP conversion....will it work?

i have a 97 GTP chassis (needs a lot of work) but is in perfect condition (texas car, low miles, benn stored for a few years lately).motor and tranny are no good and it has a bunch of electrical and brake problems that i haven't had time to work on. now, i also have a '00 GTP that is my daily driver (seasonal car) , it is a perfect running car with no issues except the frame is bad. cancer has claimed the rocker panels and the strut tower.

long story, short... i bought the 97 from a guy and it was his project. so i bought someones unfinished project and it has been like that since, just dont have the time to work on it. i had planned to put both GP's on the road but now that one is rotten, i've made up my mind that its gonna be better to spend alot of money on 1 car, than a little bit of money on both cars.

so heres the problem / question....

i want my entire '00 in the chassis of the '97. the '00 has all the bose (i know most of u guys hate the bose, but i like it) and the digital climate control, not to mention its in better shape inside. if i completely gut the 97, will everything from the '00 switch over ? i want to put the '00 wiring harness in the'97 chassis along with the computer ...can the wiring harness be switched between the 2 vehicles, or am i in over my head? eveything else will work, interior will swap and i'm just gonna swap cradles in the cars so that makes switching engine/tranny very easy.

let me know what u guys think and if i didn't describe the situation well enough.

You'll have to strip the interior down to the firewall basically ti install the digital hvac ac sending units and sensors

i'm prepared to strip it down to the firewall, but the concern i have is where does the wiring go thru the firewall from the dash to the engine bay harness?

Anything can be done, but like it was stated above, you have to "gut" both cars to get to all the wiring. It would be a good idea to take pictures of the wiring as you take it apart becuase you may not remember the correct way it goes back together, you definatly want it back together like the factory had it to prevent problems down the road.

good idea on the pics, i'm not worried about gutting them, the 2000 will be scrap metal and i don't want anything 97 in the 97...lol if that makes sense. i just want my '00 gtp in a rust free chassis and i don't want to sink a whole bunch of money into the 97 to get everything running right. just wanna swap it all over to the '97.

Has anyone ever switched an entire harness over like i'm attempting to do?...

There's a couple guys that have done the digital HVAC system but I haven't heard of anyone doing a full harness. But Honestly I don't seeing it being that hard. More time consuming than anything. Just make sure you take pix of everything you take apart. Label what bolts/nuts go where. And while you have the dash out you might wanna throw some vibration dampener on the firewall. I know I would if I had the dash out.
