95 GTP sunroof problem

On my 95 the sunroof dosen't work. So the other day I had the headliner out to recover it so I figured I would check out the sunroof to see what the problem is. I have power to the relay and switch. When you hit the button to open it you can hear the relays clicking but the rood isn't opening. Then I was tapping on and moving the relay around and the roof opened, but wouldn't close until I guess the relay made worked. So now I know I have power, the motor is good and the switch is good. I think the relay is bad. Unfortunately it is $113 at rockauto. I really don't want to spend $113 unless I have to. Is there any way I can take the relays apart to clean the contacts. Also is it possible to use regular relays in the circuit and wire them up.

id hate to say it but it sounds like the relay is shot. im not sure if its possible to take them apart or anything. if you happen to have a random bad relay laying around (i kinda doubt it, i dont do that either. if its bad it gets tossed) maybe try taking that one apart to see if its possible?

Now that I have been digging deeper I think the motor might be bad. If I put power directly to the motor it dosen't work. I want to get this right a relay is 113 and the motor is 180. I am not going to throw almost 300 bucks into this sunroof. I want to make sure which one is the problem.

ok i was kinda wondering about the motor in the original post lol something ive been thinking about is prices on relays...
i need to get a flasher relay for my turn signals and rock said like 40 and i checked at advanced autoparts and they said its like 6.25. when they said that i was thinking dang glad i checked on that. so make sure you shopa round a little tho too if your on a budget cuz ive found that some places can vary by a few bucks.

back to your problem......
id suggest replacing the motor and then if that doesnt do it try replacing the relay(and return what is fine and you dont need). from what your saying i would think its the motor. other than replaceing one thing at a time im not sure if theres a way to know forsure if its one or the other. cuz its electrical.. have you double checked the ground on anyhting? i doubt that would be it but sometimes it can be as simple as that.

hope that helps
