87 or 89?

so as of right now i have a stock GT and i put 87 octane gas in it...in the near future im making a short ram intake, buying NGK plugs and 8.5mm wires and gettin a PCM tune...so my question is would it be better for me to switch to 89 octane gas once all that is installed, or stay with 87? would it matter? and what does everyone run on modded GTs?

well depending on the tune...most suggest using a higher octane w/ the PCM tune because they usually include some timing advancements which make detonation easier to occur on the lower octanes

It's a GT...on only way he can really get KR IMO is if he screws with the timing too much or put on a HUGE TB, HV3, CAM...and no flow mods.

i would say go with the 91.. especially if you get a reprogrammed pcm.. not only will it run better.. its just better for the car

yes its a GT..i dnt have a way to scan for KR..and i was gonna have a garage where i live tune it..and ive thoroughly read the 'safely modding ur 3800' thread so i know better not to intall a huge TB or a HV3 or a CAM too soon..however, if 91 is better for the car then so be it
