3100 Governor Removal

Futures Passed

I've gotten my car up to, let's say a certain speed which isn't really worth bragging about, but it gets there quite easily, and then it really dies down quick for the last two miles per hour. It feels like it has a lot more in it. Plus, my friend's car is limited to 2 MPH over what I'm limited to. Not cool.

Is there any way to remove this limiter without buying that $500 HP Tuners kit? I have a USB-to-OBDII connection (from OBDCOM) already if that helps in any way.

nope, and there is no point to you dont need to be going that fast. If you cant hit the speed on teh track there is no need to go it.

The 3100 is still fun my mommys car had that when I used to be runnin dem streets @ 16. For real tho after I had my tune I went past my old "stopping" point and its no diffeent and honestly unless you got some real suspension work not a good idea unless at the track anyway

are your tires even rated for that fast?
I'm not going that fast on my current tires in their condition anyway. My next set will most likely be.

Add 3 mph to the what...108 mph limiter in the SE...winning?
I keep forgetting there isn't another gear after that.

I do a lot of driving on empty highways and some closed off roads. I don't race in public, they pull enough stunts as it is at normal speed, and the last thing I need is for someone to not be guilty of texting while driving because I was over the speed limit.

Why not do the toggled vss trick? and unless you got some serious mods there isnt any point in trying to wind that motor out in 4th, it will take a long time to climb up there and then it will blow, prolonged high rpm added to 3100 with no oil cooler plus heavy car that probably still has a cat = high temps. high temps = kaboom. unless you are fast enough to max it out in a quarter, you are gonna burn your bearings up trying to get up much over 120 or so. If you dont scorch the bearings the tranny is gonna cook man. you dont wanna do that to a 16.5 second car, its for getting groceries, not racing.
