25k in your hand what car would you build up

ZR1- you could pick up a 1st gen viper for 25k or less

torque- i like the looks of the '69 better over the 68, the camaro doesnt look good with hide aways the '69 charger does

CTKG- i like the looks of the '70 chevelle better over the '71 and '72 cause they dual headlights look waaay sexier than the ugly huge single headlights.

But that's all imo, i know the '72 chevelles are cheaper than the '70 depending on motor and ss or malibu.

I like the hideaways lol gives it a stealth look imo And if i didnt go crazy and did it over a year or so I think id be right at 25k unles i found one with an extremely clean body
I figure 6k for the engine 6k for the car 6k for the body and interior trans i can find all day Might go auto though
I know it would be pushin it but i Love that car it would be a newschool / oldschool mix and very dd worthy

I have been wanting to build a car for year. Plan would be for a Factory Five 33 powered by a C/H LS2. Backed up by a 6 speed of course.

do you guys have any clue of how much money $25k is? youre all way over your mark.

Mine would be pretty close. The way I figure it...

20k for the kit

Parts needed
5k for a drop out
Engine
Transmission
500 drop out Rear End
2k Wheels and Tires
1k Paint Supplies

I am able to do all body and paint along with assembly.

Total
$28,500

With all of the things that come up I really think I could do one for less than 30k.

either a 1969 z/28 302 lsd dif street/track car or a civic with a 3.8 gtp engine both could be under 25000 i figure

zapper can red line 7800 rpm and it was better in corners then the ss by a lot and at top speed run by a 426 hemi it red lines at 6800 top end 125mph z28 302 130mph

but if youre BUILDING a motor...you can do whatever you want, so why limit yourself to a small, small block.

power 2 weight less weight better balance look at the ae86 good car no power no weight beat a r34 gt-r lot power lot of weight and im not building a engine or a car if i had 25000 that would be my project or the 3.8 civic gtp

Harder to get a bigger piston to Rev up that high. The Chevy 302 was an amazing motor in its day, and I wish Chevy would have taken that type of high reving V8 thinking further. Now the technology is there for the big cube LS motors to rev higher.

Different strokes for different folks.

punctuation ftw...

i'm going new school. evo IX or t/c 'balt with a little left over for some bolt ons. and that's realistically 25k

if youre building a 350 and cant get it to rev to 8000 rpm without blowing apart then youre doing something wrong.

the only one the was probably out of range in my post was the 68 charger but i have seen decent bodies for 3-5k so i think it would work out.

you can pick up 94-96 rt/10 vipers for 15-20k all day long

and i could probably buy the 67 Firebird for 25k as it sits in that pic, or build it how i want.

CI of the motor has absolutely nothing to do with top speed the 302 was just running 4.11s to the 426 4.51s or similar.
