I didn't read this whole thread, but I thought I'd throw in my .2 cents anyways.
Large meets like this just don't work anymore. The days of GPG's and IDD's are over for this community unfortunately. The companies aren't pouring money into this dead platform anymore, grand prix's can be had for a fraction of the cost now a days.............. Instead of prestine beautiful cars, you get cars with peeling paint and faded bumpers..
It's sad, but true. The "community" isn't what it used to be. More and more teenagers with 100K+ grand prixs. Hardly any of us "old timers" are still around that continue to own and modify this platform.
Either way, I wish you guys luck in this en devour. I've had A LOT of fun out in Norwalk with the grand prix crowd. Hope you guys can muster up enough people and enjoy the same good times.
Just read that the iron fist of Nick will swipe any posts that don't meet his criteria of positive and informative, so I fully expect this to be deleted by morning.
Thanks for the input, Stalin.
I'll see you there, hopefully.
I know it's not exactly a grand prix event but the regal group piggybacks on a national buick meet at Norwalk which has been dubbed Regal Madness for a few years now. You guys could probably coordinate with the ones who set that up and we could have a huge Wbody turnout. It's scheduled for June 15, 2012. It's a 3 day event and discount rates at a local hotel are always available. Pricing varies depending on number of days you stay.
It may not be your perfect GP meet but it would be a heck of a lot easier to setup, management would be simple as well and you know they'll be at least 20 wbodys showing up at the minimum. It's a good time, I went for the first time this past summer.
You try to do your own "GPG", you're looking at $100's of dollars in expenses for track rentals, etc, etc.
Good idea but it's not necessary, we have our own Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk every year. Save time, energy, and money, and just do a big meet / turnout at Pontiac Nationals!! We used to have a HUGE setup at Norwalk, two big tents, a BBQ, at least 6-8 tents in our area alone.
If you coordinate with Pontiac Nationals, everyone has to pay the entrance fee, but that's it. You try to do your own "GPG", you're looking at $100's of dollars in expenses for track rentals, etc, etc.
