2003 gtp Exhaust ?

Get a scan at the top of second gear...like around 70-90...that is where most KR is. If you have access to a tuner...aka DHP Powertuner or HP Tuners software that will give you a REAL scan and tell you what is really going on. I had KR with a 3.5" pulley with a ported front manifold, 3" DP, U-Bend Delete, 3" Catback, 180*, AL104's, DHP PCM, 1.84:1 Roller Rockers and a FWI. About 2-3* up top of 2nd.

Thats what I'm trying to do. I'm a little nervous about buying one because I don't want to f**k it up! You guys don't think being at 5800 feet of elevation has anything to do with it do you?

I dont know if that would affect it or not, obviously you have less oxygen in the air........but I would think the big thing is flow(or lack thereof)

I dont know about your altitude or what you ran stock, but at normal altitudes a stock gtp runs low 15's. At standart altitude and with the supporting mods and a good tune a 3.4 gtp should run somewhere in the low 14's or high 13's(with very good tune)

Its possible you don't have KR but unlikely.

The higher elevation should cause more KR (i believe). Air is less dense and therefore the engine should want more.

I would bet money you get KR under these conditions
1) The top of first or second (as was stated)
2) On a day 85* or hotter
3) Going up a significant incline.
4) Have your car running (driving or idle) for 5 minutes before the scan.

Allot of people say they have no KR and are looking in the wrong place at the wrong time. Scanning at night when temps are low, looking at the low rpm ranges and on a flat surface, when the car just start up.

Have some one sit in ur passenger seat so you don't crash and look at the scanner for you.

This thing ran 15.9's at 9700 feet of corrected altitude!! stock. So 15.0's at this altitude is about right.

That isnt too bad. But, you would have more if you were going up even a slight incline or with more weight in the car or on a hot day....

Ok, thanks for the help. It was in the low 90's on saturday when I was running it so I figured it was a good test. I do have some exhaust mods on order so it should get better and faster! Thanks again you guys!!!!

I didnt know it was that warm.....it is probably a good test, but your new exhuast mods will help flow and reducing KR...what stuff did you get to help with the exhaust?

I ordered a power log and a 3" down pipe from zzp. I have the u bend and resonator replaced with a 3" pipe and the cat is gone as well. I already have the cold plugs,180 t stat and cold air intake along with the 3.4 pulley as you know. I'm planning on building my own set of headers as soon as I can find some flanges. I prefer to build my own everything if possible. The plog seemed to be a good buy until I get the headers made. I found someone to give me a tune as well.

you will notice a big difference with the tune.......the exhaust mods will help too. I am waiting to put on my PLOG/3" DP as well, should have it on within two weeks max.

Sweet! I'm pretty excited to get it installed. I should see it by this weekend. I had a blast bracket racing it. It was deadly! I raced two days and went 10 rounds total!!! 5 rounds both days! I was told these cars don't make very good bracket cars but I think I found a good one!

Who told you that? LOL These cars can be VERY consistant...automatic cars with the same launches can always pull very similar times IMO.

The guy at 3800performance.com. I don't recall what his name was but he's clearly a moron!!! I would like to put a 2 step on it if I could figure out how to wire it in. If I can control the rpm at launch then my lights would be even more deadly!!! I was putting together between 15 to 20 thousandths packages on 10 and 11 second cars!!! I had a blast.

Dont waste your money...2 step is for AWD guys and ricers. Just hold the brake down and give it gas to 2 grand...same thing...plus it is free ;)
