Polished up the windows and installed the window trim things. Also got a pic of the worst of the hood. It needs to be paint, no doubt about that, but I'm just trying to get it a little better for the time being...I know it'll needs some sort of work other than painting. I'd bet I know a guy with a RWD GP that could chime in...
I wash the car in the yard, but I don't wear a bikini (sorry Red).
I need to shave:

Yo! I ain't too sharp today, too much fatigue lately then got sick so I be groggy. Looks like maybe more than the paint is cracked. Go rougher and dig out the cracked coatings then feather around the edge with a buffable grit. Then-
In the boat place I worked at mid-80s, there was a powder (maybe ground glass) that could be mixed with gelcoat for a colored putty. Doubt you have that stuff, but you might have fiberglass resin, 2K epoxy, or JB Weld and black paint that you could make a black runny sandable polishable goo by mixing. You would spread such goo on neatly then level with sandpaper and buff.
Any other solution requires paint. But a tiny traditional fill sand paint spot repair might blend in nicely. If you have some glaze coat, a rattle can o shiny black, and some polish and finesse, you could make the eye skip right past that. Especially since you'll show it with hood up.
Whatever you do, keep it small. I'd prolly just use some 1000 grit and level it then do the shot of black thing... through a hole in a piece of paper held near the surface to control overspray. Minimal rag on finger with polish rubbing, done. Its the white clear that draws the eye!

Nah, the amish around here would pay someone to drive up while they're in the passenger seat then they'd shoot, lol.
I got a lot done on the car today, but not what I originally expected and given the weather I'm satisfied. I polished all the glass, top of the car, pillars, fenders, and top halves of the doors. I touched up the hood pretty well. I'll going to went sand my way up to 2000 grit and polish it tomorrow, just to see how it looks. After all that I decided to go ahead and pull the sub box stuff out so I can paint the trunk tomorrow. I'm going to use some of this stuff:
It's cheap and a few guys over at FSB love it so we'll see how it works for me. I have an entire can for the driver side strut tower on the inside with some underbody coating to go on top of it after awhile (to see if the Rust Fix holds up). Tomorrow I also have 15 feet of LED strip to put in the trunk, yay.
Anyways, I've always had a bit of a strange grounding issue with my Infinity, so I decided to take a stab at trying to fix it. I pretty much narrowed the problem down to a bad cap somewhere in the amplifier, but that's it so far. I did find the entire schematic in a service manual for the amp, so I'm hoping we (Jeff and I) can fix it up.

Got a lot done today, but not as much as I had hoped. I did get the strut tower patch painted, but I'm not really that impressed with the paint itself. After the first 2 coats it looked like crap, so I just laid thick coats down one after one. It "kills rust on contact" so I made sure it came into contact with all the rust that is left, lol. After that came the hood. Talk about a time waster. I wetsanded it. 800, then 1000, then 2000, then went to polish. Polish didn't cut it, so I had to call in a favor from a friend and have him take me to get some Ultimate Compound and 2500 grit. It helped a lot, but I still wasn't happy. I decided to pull the hood and work on it through the night inside. I touched up everything I could see, let it dry a few hours, then wet sanded. Again. 1,000, 2,000, then 2,500. Then I used the Ultimate Compound...like 5 times. I literally just spent the last 3 or more hours with the Ultimate Compound alone. I still have some swirls, but they are a LOT better. This paint is ****, or at least thats the conclusion I have come to. It will still get repainted and properly patched, but this is 10000x better than it was, and I'm not done. I'm washing all the microfibers I dirtied up today, then when i wake up in the morning I'll hit it with Polish and wax. Anyways, enough tired rambling. Here's pics:
At some point today I swapped out the coolant overflow tank for the one I cleaned it. I wish I got a pic before I installed it. Damn thing looked brand new. I soaked a small maroon scotchbrite in brake cleaner, then shook the **** out of it. That did 95% of the work. This is how the car sits now, minus the doors and trunk being open (I left them all open all day so the paint could get fresh air):
Closer up of bottle, I also rerouted some wires to tidy things up a bit:
When I brought the hood inside:
Where it sits now:
That same bad (worst) spot I pictured a few posts up:
At anything more than a foot away it's hardly noticeable. The car needs more touch ups than the hood does now, so once those are done then I'll paint the hood. I'm pointing at the spot:
Tomorrow I finish up the hood, put the Infinity amp back together, put the trunk back together (and hopefully run a second set of RCAs), put the hood on, and finish polishing\waxing the car. It's 4 AM now...gonna be a fun day.

Wow, hand rubbing sanding scratches is an exercise in futility. Sure is shiny though. Were you buffing gelcoat or paint? Come rub out the fireworks burns on 2 of my cars' clearcoats next grass-hoppa.

Used some of that black wax for dark color cars, works pretty good. I think I'l being overly critical, since it's not perfect. I'm gonna havea nervous break down when I polish the rest of the car up tonight and see how many touch up I have to do...
