Leave the dents it gives a car character. Since I live in a large city I have to deal with all the shopping cart dents and door dings. That was one of the reasons I loved to drive my PA as it was in a severe hail storm that broke the back window out and smashed the windshield to the point it had to be towed. Then after being garage kept for all its life when I got it the paint started peeling off in sheets. Looked like it snowed in our front yard. We called it "the golfball", and I could merge into traffic without looking because everyone got out of the way. Lol. Now I can't do that anymore.

Ever heard of paint less dent repair? I have a buddy who owns a pdr company. I keep his interior mint, and he keeps my car ding free :)

I've heard of it, doesn't it use dry ice or something like that? My PA is literally so dented it's not only on the tops of the hood, roof, and trunk, but the A,B, and C pillars.

No ice lol. They uses tools to get behind the skin and work the low spots out, and tap the high spots down with rubber tools. A good tech can get them out flawlessly.

I've seen it done with dollies and long "spoons" and the guy that used to come up to our shop used dry ice too. But wasn't really interested in it. I'm one of those guys that is more into function over form. Lol.

I've thought about the paintless stuff, just gotta find a good guy to do it. I've also thought about the whole air duster trick. Same idea as the dry ice. You get a can of canned air and flip it over to freeze the metal really good, then hit it with a heat gun right away. Theory seems sound but with my luck I would trigger the zombie apocalypse trying it. I dunno why, but I've always wanted to have a car in a car show. I figure I can try with this one...even though it is just a Grand Prix. I'd probably be the only one there so at least I'd be the nicest...and the ****tiest. lol. DA polisher has moved up the list, so I'll have one before too long. This hood will still be painted, so this was all just practice, really. There was a **** ton of chips in it so I had a lot of practice filling rock ships and such. While it's still fresh in my mind I need to do the rest of the car, lol.

Its a 15 year old, daily driven car. I think it looks great! I'm too embarrassed to post close ups of mine. Even for 15 years its in crap shape. I think most of it is clear scratches though, just been too busy with all the mechanical to worry about it. I did the first serious wash a couple nights ago. I have the HF polisher, but every time I use it I end up with white splatters ALL over my car. Leaves such a mess I don't want to use it.

And about the cold/hot dent treatment. Its really more of a myth. I've talked to my friend about this. Basically whenever you get a dent it stretches the metal. You can't just attack the lowest spot and hope to pop it out. You have to work on the edges and relieve the pressure, working outside to inside. I've done it a couple times, and its not easy. His company requires 2 months training at their headquarters and at least another 6 riding with someone and under their supervision until you are on your own. But there is big money in it if you know what you are doing. Some guys make a small fortune just traveling and basically following hail hit areas.

Yeah, I walked out of the store after washing my car. As I'm approaching I'm thinking "dang that car is looking nice!" And patting myself on the back for the good wash. By the time I got the keys out of my pocket and reached for the door my ada boy feeling quickly vanished and I felt sorry for myself. But then I started it, slammed the gas petal down, heard the blower whine, and all was well with the world again :)

Ain't that the truth! Blower whine cures all. I took my Mom out for Mother's Day before I even had the car running like it should and she said it sounded like I had a fire engine siren under the hood. Lol

it keeps raining so no wash in a while now. but i walk up to it and dont see my old tell tail "i parked here" 3 oil spots under the car.

i keep looking too. like im expecting it to leak something lol

Living that Amish life will do that to you. Once you compound/polish it.. A proper hand wash (2 bucket method) will keep it looking good then just use a quick spray wax to keep it up.

lol. Compound/polish and coat the car with the one of the newer coatings on the market. Trust me you won't look back once you start using one. If anything a sealant and spray wax to maintain will also work.

Yep, thats mighty shiny! FWIW, on the side convo... PDR guys are into hot glue now, they glue studs to small dents to pull them out, in areas such as pillars where theres no backside access. When using tools to push dents out, paintless or not, the idea is to work in a spiral from the outside in, raising the center last. When metal is stretched (different thickness in different spots) as when kinked, heat can help rearrange the metal's molecules to correct but not within the heat tolerance of paint. So it will burn and lift coatings. If you have stretched metal, a PDR guy can't do much for that. None of this helps a fiberglass hood, that needs filler and paint.

Got the trunk back together It's not as pretty as everything else, mainly because the Infinity amp is still messed up and the sub box has to come out to pull that amp. No use it tucking all the wires nice and pretty just to pull it all out again. I did get the LEDs installed though. Nice and bright, but not too bright.

Me too. I won't be surprised if\when it starts falling down though. this was a temporary test type thing to see if I'd like the light. I do, so when the glue fails I'll use rubber cement to glue it up. I cleaned up all the surfaced with rubbing alcohol before sticking it all down, but I still don't really trust it. Picture doesn't really do it justice, it's actually pretty bright. Not blinding though.
