Looking good! Man your polishing looks great. My wife has been on me to throw away those and a lot of other books for some time. I always tell her that I may need that some time, or someone else may need it. She just doesn't understand. Hop you can get some use from them I've literally had those since I was in high school. They are great training tools to get started. The digital one can help you to combine channels and the opto electronics one is good for car stuff also.

if you can mark that pipe, I can cut it and weld it back like it never happened.

I'm sure you can, but I can't have the car down that long, lol. I'll have to figure something out though, it has scraped a few times.

Hey, how do you like those Imp brakes? I just picked up a set, having them media blasted now. Noticeable improvement?

I went from stock to 00-05 then from 00-05 to 06+ and going from 00-05 to 06+ was the biggest difference. You might be able to use your stock rotors, but you'll have to have them turned a few times, so it might just be worth it to get 06+/

Cool. Yeah I seen they were a few mm different. Hoping my pads have worn enough that I can keep the rotors till their done. They don't have many miles on them. I do have a belt sander :th_biggrin2:

I had to cut the shiny hardware pieces a bit too, the ones on the caliper bracket. That was the part that rubbed, IIRC. It's been awhile, but watch that part.

So I installed the bolts, and realized the dogbone mounts use the same thread...but I was missing a bolt. Called Dad, he'll be getting 3 on Monday and I can get them from him before the meet and swap out the one I ended up robbing from the vacuum tree. I polished and waxed some stuff, and wiped down a bunch of stuff. Came out pretty good, but I have more to do tomorrow. New coolant tank is almost clean, I just need to clean that part that the hose actually connect to. That should be done tomorrow, along with the trunk and a few other odds and ends. I'm going to try and touch up the hood and see how that looks. Should be a busy weekend with it all. My wife is all involved in the meet stuff too so she'll be helping which is awesome, she has OCD OCD OCD (I might) with cleaning stuff, so if she wants to that car will be SPOTLESS. Anyways, enough rambling. Pics:

Thanks, I think it's coming along nicely. Kudos for the cap screws idea, I really like it. I hate that I used the side cover from my old transmission on my new one. You can see how they have a different color for some reason. Irritating.

3 pound difference, lol. The F-bodies are gravity cast, not pressure cast. If they were pressure cast I would have gone that route, but nah.

Impalas are 9.65 pounds per side and F bodies are 6.05 pounds so it's more like 3.5 pounds, but you know what I mean.

I have yet to personally check this, but I hear the rear Grand Am brakes bolt on in place of our rears and they're 3 pounds lighter, too.

I heard the fbodies like to clamshell too. There were bunch of them at the yard, only one set of 06 imps though. Having a little more weight over the wheels may help the off the line spin. I'll take any help there I can get.

I'm running bullitts so I don't have that problem, and I can't say I'm going for weight reduction either. Even though I have the aluminum subframe and bumper, lol. I used touch up paint on the hood, and 45 minutes later it starts raining. Thanks MO. I also started to wash the car...then is started raining. I figured it would rain today so I was waxing and all that, just washing the bug guts and such off. I also finished up cleaning out the new coolant tank. It's not perfect, but it's pretty clean. If this rain ever lets up I want to start the trunk, but that might get pushed back to a sunny day...

The wheels/brakes are "unsprung" weight though, going heavier there won't help traction issues, any time you can get lighter wheels or brake assembly up front your transmission will thank you.

I was just being silly, not technical. But I do disagree with you. I bet if I put some sandbags on my engine I would have better traction. Same reason trucks put weight in the beds. More weight over drive wheels= better traction.

Yes you would have better traction if you put sand bags on your engine,it would help as you are putting more weight on the wheels being that it's "sprung" weight.
The wheel/tire and brake assembly is "unsprung" weight though.
