2000 Grand Prix Laking Fuel Line

Hi.
Just want an opinion or any thoughts.
I,m a noob with car mechanics.

My brother took the car to my mechanic ,and left it there for the day.
After work he went to pick it up.The thing he wanted fixed was a slow leak in the rear passeneger tire, and it was fixed.
However, the mechanic found that the fuel line was leaking, and when my brother parks the car in the underground garage he says he doesnt see any fluid on the pavement,or very very little.
The cost of the job would be $220 canadian.
Is there a way to do this yourself without a hoist?
Or should he just bite it,and pay up?

Thanks.
Drive safely,and soberly all.
Cheers!:th_thumbsup-wink:

A fuel leak would most likely be smelled, and also sometimes evaporate and not leave a puddle at all, but very important to fix because of fuels apparent volatility.

depending on where the leak is, you looking at a 3 dollar to 20 dollar repair if you fix it yourself.

pics and or a location would help guide you better.

Thanks guys, unfortunately my camera is missing its lithium batteries right now,but i,m positive the right thing has been done. The rust around the area that was fixed,is very bad,and he gives the car one more year.
Thats his opinion.I,m glad it is fixed, and i did notice a smell coming from the car after it would be parked in the underground.

My 2000 GP had a leak at connection to the fuel rail. Being under the hood, I smelled raw gas. The line is metal and plastic and the plastic splits over time. It's about a $100 line from the dealer and yes, I would suggest a lift. I did mine with jacks and it was very hard to direct the line up from them bottom to the engine compartment without bending the line. I did it in about 5 hours about 5 years ago.
