2000 Grand Prix GT GREMLINS!

Hi guys. New here to the site. I've got some problems with my 2000 GP GT. Hopefully they are common and Im not completely screwed. Bought the car used a few months ago with 190,000 miles on it. Pretty high I know but got an alright deal. The problems are as follows: Headlights are dim, fog lights wont work at all, the dimmer for the dash lights doesn't work (but still is lit), the heater/AC blower doesn't seem to be blowing hard enough (Minnesota winters suck), traction control always reads off, the HVAC controls wont light up, and the abs light is on. I abandoned driving it a couple months ago because I got about ten miles into my hundred mile journey to work and it wouldn't shift into 4th gear. I turned around and took it home and hopped into my trusty Z71. Got a little time off work here and any help you guys could throw my way would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

4th gear dead = your tranny is going, common issue. most problems you described are common maintanence, like abs light is usually either a faulty sensor OR a bad hub.

Need new headlights, check fog bulbs, maybe need a new switch, blower motor resistor bad?, bad wheel speed sensor on one or more wheels, no 4th means new trans time.

Thanks for the input. Noticed the abs sensor on front driver side was just tie wired onto lower control arm. Tranny shifted fine for the two months I drove it and then it sat. Wouldn't doubt if the the guy I bought it from did the old brake fluid in the tranny trick to swell the bands. The tranny shifted fine until I was just about to the interstate which was weird. Hopefully just a computer or electrical issue. The weird thing about the fan is it sounds like its got plenty of balls but isn't getting the job done.

the 4th gear shaft on the 97-02 4t65e is not hardened and strips out over time. It's common and the only fix is replacing the shaft.
