2000 Grand Prix GT gas problems

So I just got a 2000 Grand Prix GT and it is having problem. The main one for me though is that the gas gauge does not work properly. It displays a full tank of gas when its running empty. But the needle does work. Any ideas on how to fix this? And my digital guages that display average fuel economy is weird. It shows that my average fuel economy is only 2.6 mpg. Any ideas on why this would be?

Ive read that it could be. It goes to full and stays there until the gas light comes on. I hope this is the same problem for the trip computer that says I only get 2.6mpg

That doesn't mean anything at all. Some owners swapped the needles on the clusters and it causes all sorts of issues.

its NOT a cluster problem.

Its the fuel level sensor on the fuel pump.

Pull the pump, replace that part and throw it back together.

I rarely ever hear that the cluster goes bad.
