20 inch rim help

I recently bought a set of 18 inch rims for a 2000 gp gt coupe, I'm thinking about selling them for 20 inch rims but I just wanted to know if it is true that you would have to shave your fenders and that 20's can cause suspension/transmission damage? Also what other downsides are there in going bigger, price aside?

my g/f runs 20's on her gp. even have the ssc springs and kyb struts... no rubbing anywhere. tire size is 245/35r20

i would roll the fenders, as i am lowered. ive been debating 20's for my car, i dunno. as the big tymers say "twenty inches, nuttin less":th_thumbsup-wink:

20's on grand prix's are hit or miss. i think 18's and 19's look the best. and yes bigger wheels cause more strain on the tranny so in the long run them 20's will kill the tranny

are you serious? so i guess a 20" wheel is lighter & smaller then a 16" rim? no it takes more pwoer and strain.

is you don't get on it all the time. you will be fine with the tranny. everything make the tranny strain. adding perfomance mods and taking it to the drag strip will do it to.

I am all your doing is making the side wall smaller put the wheels side by side there the same height and only cheap rims are more heavy if you get 3 peace wheels they are just as light

i got alloy tech 18" rims six spoke w/ about a 2" lip, i got them only a few months old for about 600 bucks i mean do u guys think grand prixs look good on 18's?
