2 door vs 4 door

Sorry in advance if this is the wrong forum.

I'm looking into buying a 2001 GT 2 door at the moment for a fairly good price. We owned a 4 door, same year with all the bells and whistles a few years back and I loved it. My brother also has a 2002 GT 2 door.

Here's my question. In your experience, does the 2 door handle worse than the 4? Our 4 door always seemed sturdy, heavy. Steering was tight and it gripped the road really great. My brother's doesn't do that at all BUT it also has a rebuilt title (took a pretty decent hit to the front right from what I understand). His kind of feels like tremendously lighter I guess. And it handles like it as well. Just doesn't seem to be as good of a cruiser. You don't feel like its going to hold going around tight corners as much.

Basically I'm just wanting to know whether or not I can expect my brothers car to be indicative of what this one will be. Or whether the wreck has caused it to be like that instead. This one I'm looking into is mint, at 35k original miles. I'm just hoping it feels more like our old 4 door and don't want to hold it against the seller if it's just how they are.

I like the 4 door look better than the 2 door look for these cars. They are not really "sports cars" like Mustangs and Camaros and I think 4 door fits the body style better.

4 doors are ugly on these cars period, main reason I hate the 04+ cars they are ugly as ****, you want a 4 door get a Regal or Impala.

Btw 2 doors all day, nice big and easy to get in and out of they look better and are lighter, what's not to like?

i LOVE my two doors, but im always paranoid about parking if i have people in my car. if i park too close, my big ass doors might knick the car next to me and chip my paint.

They handle the same it's the same car. The only reason why one would out handle the other is because of suspension wear.

As compared to what other affordable midsize family car?
Irrelevant in this discussion but a 4th/5th gen Maxima handles better, E39 540's which can be had around the top end of GTP's prices, A6 etc.. What's the definition of "affordable" anyway?

I think it's certainly relevant. Anytime you say something sucks, I think it's best to give some sort of comparison otherwise it sounds like complaining for the sake of complaining...

Point taken - "affordable" lends itself to some conversation of relativity to each individual. For me when I bought my GP, "affordable" meant under $10k. I needed something under $10k that could easily transport 5 people and all their crap, and that would last a long time. GPGT fit that bill nicely.
