1998 GTP Chiming Sound

It just started when I am driving I get a chiming sound like a door is open but I checked all the doors. Also turned off the radio and air still the same...it only makes the noise when I a driving idle it does not. Coulf it be low gas in the tank, I have 51 miles till empy based on the computer. I also noticed when the chiming starts the radio display flickers on and off and so does the overhead light. Any idea where I can check to see what is going on, it just started to happen today.

I'd agree, the key to fixing a problem is good diagnosis. You've got a couple of expert diagnosticians between FFDP and myself. We both agree you need fuel and your car is suggesting you correct the issue before you run out of fuel and have to walk.
 
I would suggest the door latch is faulty. Inside the door is 2 or 3 sensors withing the latch. looks like a little box inside the door attached to the top of the latch. my 2000 GMC did this when the door pins went bad and friend borrowed my truck slammed the door without picking up on it. it shorted out the sensor and kept dinging like door ajar. lights came on and off and my alrm wouldnt work because half the time it thought my door was open.

Wellisnt that what the low fuel light is for? I have half a tank in the car, so I don't thiml that chime is that I checked all doors ets... It is intermintent usually when I go over a bump or sothing. Very anoying!
 
my car was chiming for a bit and i thought it was the car. but found it to be the xm unit. just a thought, have you installed any aftermarket audio?

You put gas in the car and it's still doing it?
 
Stupid me didnt check the trunk it was the problem. Just an FYI for someone to know. If the lid is open it will chime 4 times. Thanks for all the help
