Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

Never saw it. I only checked their website later in the day on friday, so it could of been gone by then.

So therefore, no i did not take advantage of that. Wish i would have though.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

Got a call from Andrew (whos working on my trans)

Everything is torn apart right now, in the process of putting in all new parts. Car will be done tonight.

He said the trans has been apart before, but there were no hard parts in the trans, just completely stock. Wasnt the best rebuild he has seen. He also told me this trans will feel a world of difference when i get it back.

He is also installing my black Valve cover for me, tuning out my EVAP delete code, checking and fixing my vacuum leak i have. Car should be brand f*cking new when i get it back tonight after work. Im quite stoked.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

Have him tune the trans settings...and the fan turn on points as well...tell him to kick those down and put a 180* in there when you get it back.

That'll help worlds too.

Then go poop on Josh's car.

:D

Yeah, andrew is a good guy. Thank the lord. Hes fixing all my check engine light problems and installing new VC with no extra charge. What a guy.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

If he is tuning out the codes for you just have him set the turn on points lower...it's easy...even I can do it and I don't tune.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

I would just like to chime in on this conversation and say:

Good.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

^ This.

Plus in the southern states we tend to get REALLY hot weather most of the year so the cooler the better. 160* is too cold, but the *180s keep my motor just under 200 all day long. I like it much more than the stock 195s.

At this point in Michigan I would say stick with the 195 until spring then drop to 180 and flush the coolant system when you do just for summer preparation. Don't want to cause problems with it taking too long to warm up with your cold temps, but that's just me.

Defintely have him set the fans for lower temp turn on and the "90sec after off" if he can. Fans run more but everything stays cooler.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

After I put in the 180* t-stat the motor never sees higher than 195*. On the long drives from Fort Polk to Fort Hood my temp stays between 181-186* and the car loves it.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Bye-Bye Broken Trans

Im going to go with Sheff on this one. 195* tstat stays for now during the winter. Since its currently sitting at 30 degrees here in Michigan. When spring comes, 180* will get dropped in.
