Went a talked to a buddy of mine to rebuild the trans. $1200 out the door for a full rebuild that includes Hardened 4th and Shift Kit.

She goes into the shop Monday morning.

I am not getting the 3.29 gearing as i dont want my MPGs to drop and i asked my buddy Andrew about the Input shaft and he said you dont need that unless your making some actual power so dont even bother with that. So no upgraded input shaft for me to save on money.

Now a quick question, what kind of power will i be able to hold with this trans before i need to upgrade even more? Just curious

might as well build it now if you're going to mod in the future.....thats what i'd do.

Its already getting the Hardened 4th and Shift kit, there isnt that much hard parts to go into the trans anyways. All im really missing is the 300M input shaft.

JD has a point. A couple hundred more to have it built right, or pay to have it completely torn down and rebuilt again just for the shaft later down the road? I'd spend the extra couple hundred now.

The hardened parts are nice, but since you likely won't be doing any 100+ high speed runs you won't REALLY need it. I'd think you'd want the upgraded input shaft so it can handle the torque more than the high end 4th. As it is I'd think it'd hold 300whp possibly more, but without all the good upgrades I wouldn't push for a SUPER high end build. A good 3.4 setup or lower with supporting mods should be sufficient if its built right and doesn't grenade when you leave the shop haha.

So what else are you saying should be done? The only thing im missing is the 4340 Input shaft, that may actually be included but the 300M is not, thats extra if i wanted to upgrade to that.

No but I'm sure someone on here has one for sale i usually see them for sale for around 300

Just imagine how pissed you will be when you finally get around to doing some go fast parts just to find out that your new power just busted your new trans....Build it so you wont break it.. Do it right now...

Im already in debt as it is.

My parents are paying for the trans now i have to pay them off later.

Also i need to come up $800 by next semester to pay for school, so at the moment i dont have the extra $450 to throw into my trans on top of the $1200.

sorry to say but School > Car

Is the right time to do it? Yes but i just cant afford the extra $450 at the moment. This new rebuilt trans will hold up to 300whp as it is. Ill be fine for a long time.

No upgraded IS, no care.

That's the weak link when you start putting power down.

IS' shred on stock cars with slicks...amirite? lul.

Well guy.. I can just say I that if I were you.. I would get it done right now and not worry about it again....But it is your call.. BUT I can say that if this works out well for you.. I know where I am getting mine done at......

hardened 4th is an upgrade, at least im doing that with a shift kit.

Sorry that my car isnt my main priority in life.

I have other things i need to pay for, such as a thing called college.

Its not like its getting done wrong? Im just missing the 300M input shaft, thats it. If you like to explain to me how i can afford the $450 for this piece, please be my guest and tell me how cause ill do it.

$450 extra is alot of money that i dont have as a young college kid.

Explain... Well you kinda already did BUT I will summarize for you.

Dan- Mom/Dad can I have an extra $xxx to pay for the upgraded Input Shaft.

Mom/Dad- Wow son that is a lot of extra money

Dan- I know BUT the input shaft is the weak link in the trans and this is the best way to ensure longevity of the new trans.

Mom/Dad- Are you sure this is not a RaceKer add-on?

Dan- No Mom/Dad, If I wanted to get RaceKer add-ons I would have asked for the cash to change gearing. But this is just making the trans Strong Like BULL

Mom/Dad- Well son let us think about it..

Dan I hear ya man. But I'd try to dig up the money. Hell find a rich relative draw up a payment plan. But if not, so be it. The car will still move and with the way you drive I don't see it breaking. So I wouldn't stress too much :)
