Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

Nice, brake upgrade and LEDs!!

Got 20 pieces of 194 style Led's from ebay for $7, now my interior, side markers and license are bright AF lol.

Couple 194's couple 562's LED bulbs for less than $15, and 30 minutes of my time and the interior looks WAY better and brighter. It's amazing how such a cheap upgrade can make a big difference, I love it. I wish everything was like that lol.

As for brakes - New seals, hardware kit, front rotors, rear rotors, and rear pads can all be had for $200 shipped off RockAuto. Man, I love shopping online. Too bad I don't have $200 to blow right now :(

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

It really is. Not to mention I brought them Saturday evening and already arrived today.. To bad the other ones are coming from China so yea I don't expect those for awhile. First time around I brought them from superbrightleds years ago and spent way to much and they just didn't last long at all.

I typically try to find one that says "US Seller." You get some from China (Which there's nothing wrong with that), but shipping for those is like 20+ business days. No thanks lol. I'd rather spend a couple extra dollars to have them shipped in 3-4 business days. I was thinking about buying from Diode Dynamics, but I could by a package of 10+ LEDS from eBay for the cost of one from them. I'm sure the quality is WAY better but if one burns out, I have plenty to replace with. Plus, it's just a Grand Prix, it gets "Cheap" things

Yes Sir, love ebay, been burned once, but not detoured. I buy 80% of my stuff from online.

Same here. Car parts usually comes from RockAuto (Unless needed right away), and everything else comes from eBay.

Online shopping is the way to go.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

Oh I usually do just stick with US sellers but apparently I was snoozing off when I added it to my cart and paid for it lol. No worries I have time they won't go in right away anyways. They'll probably just show up and I'll open it up and say oh yea I did buy those which typically happens everytime I buy from China waiting for them to arrive.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

Not really an update here. Just cleaned both calipers and also replaced the seals on the calipers as well. Just need to paint them, then I'll start collecting parts soon to do the swap.

But the bigger news, I met a new girl. And this new girl, happens to drive a Pontiac G8 GT. I don't know how I feel about my girlfriend having a better car than me. I'm kinda jealous, and want I it. Because of this, I already told her I'm marrying her. Wife that b*tch.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

As long as you're allowed to drive it, she's a keeper :th_laugh-lol2:

I see you've changed the thread title a lot. How do you do that? Must you have so many posts, or be a certain level member?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see you have to edit the first post, and go "advanced"

She said I can drive it and have it if I want. She doesn't like it. Lol.

Yeah, you got it. Just go to your very first post - edit - advance - then change title

She doesn't like it? WTF. Rent a focus or something and let her drive that for a week.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

I saw a G8 GXP and decided to search specs. They only have 415hp. I was disappointed.

Nice cars but kind of on the heavy side.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

Twas a bad day yesterday.

Coming home from a date with the lady late at night, some asshat decided to leave a large bucket in the middle of the street. Going 60+ mph, I didn't even see it until right before I hit it. Got stuck underneath my car. Had to pull over and yank it out from under the car. The next morning, I looked for any damage, and come to find out, it cracked my SD Front Air Dam. TALK ABOUT PISSED OFF! Really sucks this happened.

Crack isn't large enough for me to buy another one since they are so expensive. No one will notice while driving, but it annoys me. Since it just got painted, I'll just leave it like this through the summer and when I take it off again for the winter, I might just try and "repair" it. Who knows.

I did align the crack so it's not sticking up, it just looks like a line now.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

That really sucks. I'd bet you can fix it pretty easily when you take it off. It could have been a lot worse.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

Jdm zip ties. Jkjkjk at least in that location that wouldn't be a bad repair for a plastic weld

Yeah, it sounded A LOT worse. I got "lucky" so to speak. But still sucks.

I honestly have not a clue how to repair it. Your advice is plastic weld?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

Plastic weld from the inside, another trick i saw was spray foam the inside to give stability after plastic welding.. then you can fill the outside..

really theres no one set technique, just lots of "try this".. from what I know.

Yeah I would try plastic welding like with foam for support. Sand. Filler. Sand paint. Call it a day
