Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

I can never just browse craigslist without buying anything.

Like I said, I wanted to switch all my audio stuff over to Alpine (Besides my Double Din), so I ended up finding and buying an Alpine MRP-M850 Mono Amp for my sub. 1,500w Peak Power and 800w RMS. One hell of an Amp, to say the least. Once again, it blows my older Kenwood Amp out of the water.

The amp was still brand new in the box/wrapping. Still had the $400 Best Buy sticker on it. Ended up getting it for $140 - which I thought was an absolute steal.

All that's left is I just need to switch my front/rear speakers to Alpine Type R, then the Audio in the car will be done.

I also received some parts in the mail for my suspension build. Here's 2 rear and 1 front KYB strut mount and Anti-Pogo washers. Still need one more strut mount and 4 KYB Excel Struts.

Alpine #1 for the speakers:

Alpine #2 - 12" Type R:

Alpine #3:

Yay, car parts:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

Well, it looks like there is no turning back now. Low is officially happening.

Purchased $330 worth of suspension parts to get the ball rolling. Thank god for tax season.

- Two Front KYB GR-2 Excel Struts
- Two Rear KYB GR-2 Excel Struts
- Two Front KYB Boot Kits
- Two Rear KYB Boot Kits
- One Front KYB Strut Mount (Since I have the other 3 already).
- Two Rear AC-Delco Sway Bar Links

Obviously, already have SSC Springs in the garage, and Anti-Pogo washers as well.

As soon, as everything is shipped to me, I'll rent a Spring Compressor and assemble the struts. I don't think I'm missing anything on what's required to put struts together.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Wheels, Double Din, and Now Soon To Be Low.

Just buy a spring compressor it's only like $20 and I'm sure you'll use it again at some time in your life.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Wheels, Double Din, and Now Soon To Be Low.

am i missing where the low part comes into play? SSC springs? teh lulz.

you freakin' kids and your ideas.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Wheels, Double Din, and Now Soon To Be Low.

So in total how much is the lowering costing you? just curious as to I may lower mine too.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Wheels, Double Din, and Now Soon To Be Low.

Right now, I'm looking at $400 spent so far. That's replacing all struts and mounts, anti pogo washers, and rear sway bar links. I got the springs for free.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Wheels, Double Din, and Now Soon To Be Low.

Got some of my suspension parts in the mail today. It's like Christmas when the FedEx man drops off a couple large boxes.

Got the fronts fully assembled. Was going to start working on the rears, but forgot to buy the lower Coil Spring Insulator. Bought some off RockAuto, so now I just have to wait until they arrive before the rear's will be finished.

Did replace both bearings, but one was yellow and one was black. Both were KYB, no idea why they were different colors. Just re-used the old insulators and seats from the Brandon's old struts I had laying in my garage. Just need to ziptie the end of the boots down, and they will be ready for installation.... When Spring time comes.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Wheels, Double Din, and Now Soon To Be Low.

They look good I bet its killing you its not spring yet, you also answered a question I kept forgetting to ask about the boots. When my KYB assemblys got here the bottom part of the boot wasn't held down with anything so I didn't know if i needed to zip tie it, so now i will.

I was just planning on throwing a Zip-Tie around it and calling it good. You'll never see it.

I might just install these soon though. Winter is on it's tail-end, and I wouldn't mind having these springs settled before the rims go on.

That's what I do for a living in the winter. I plow snow for a company with my truck. I already have one plow truck, don't need to make the Prix into one, but I'm reevaluating that thought. ;)

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Wheels, Double Din, and Now Soon To Be Low.

Finished assembling and installing the struts. Had to wait for the rear coil spring insulators and I was missing a plastic piece for the front struts that the bearing spins on, so I had to disassemble my stock struts.

Last picture of the car before she becomes lowered:

Rear struts assembled:

Replacing the rear sway bar end links:

Rear strut removed:

Installed:

Rears done, time for the front:

Removed. Should just leave it like that, for ultra-low:

Installed:

Finished product after a quick wash:

Car definitely rides much stiffer now. Can feel the bumps in the road a lot more. But if I was looking for a luxury ride, I would have bought one. Looks > Function, in this case. Lol

Up next, finish removing all the old paint from my Front Air Dam, then repaint it. Also, I will most likely buy an Eastwood Fender Roller as my new wheels will rub after this drop. Other than that, basically just sit around until the snow melts. I hate winter.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Car is Officially Lowered.

Thanks man!

Thanks!

I will not keep these steelies. They are SO ugly, I can't stand them. Lol

And I will not be buying more diapers, me and the Baby Mama aren't together anymore. She's kind of gone crazy and trying to keep my daughter from me. I just send her child support money every month and that's that.
