Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

I would get a price on both and see if you can swing it.. Maybe leave the lim out of it if funds are a issue.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

Go get that GenV I only ever found 1 in the u-pull-it near me, they sold it to me for $35

but...

04+ leather seats over a GenV is a very hard choice

According to the Junk Yard website, it will cost me $70+$10 core for the Gen V and $30 + $5 core for the LIM. = Roughly $115 out the door.

Seats: Single Bucket seats is $30, but there's two of them obviously, Bench-seat is $45 so total is roughly $75 if my prices are corrects.

LKQ would be the Junk YArd I found it at.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

dumb question: But any ways to tell if the blower is fine? No bad needle bearings?

I spun it by hand, and it spun freely with no noises. But damn, that b*tch was dirty. Made a bit nervous.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

Good day at the junk yard, for me anyways. :)

Went back this morning with Josh and Brandon. Josh went to get the 04+ seats but couldnt get the driver seat out due the lack of power.

Brandon helped me remove the Gen V and LIM from the Grand Prix and I took it. Ended up paying $87 out the door for both, but also returned a MAF sensor for $30. So after all is said and done, I got a Gen V/LIM for roughly $50. I'm pretty pumped about my purchase. Here are some pictures. It's pretty dirty and needs a good cleaning/painting but there pulley spins freely without resistance, so thats a good sign.

Brandon chillin on the ground:

No more blower:

Mhmmmmm Gen V. Gets me excited:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, With Some Go Fast Goodies.

Gen V swap when rockers go on?

You know it. This will just postpone our installation so I can get a few more parts to do it all at once.

You have a pulley puller so we can swap the MPS from the Gen 3 to Gen 5?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V.

You know I do remember putting the mps on joshie's car? You'll drive down in a turd and drive home in a RACEKAR!! :D

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V.

Ah yes that's right!

I'm pretty excited, come back from your house with a nice upgrade. Hopefully with your tuning expertise you can get the car running like a champ with a 3.4 on a Gen V.
