Re: 1997 Black GTP, Yet Another Update.

Ever since I bought my car, the blower motor was going out. But I had more important things to do, such as SD hood, SD Air Dam, Gen 1 spoiler... Blah blah blah. LOL

My resistor just went out about 1 month ago. So today I tackled the Project.

Old Resistor:

(Look at those tips photobombing the picture)

All I have to say, is removing the 3 screws for the resistor is a pain in the ass.

It's all literally unscrew the old, screw in the new, but you have to learn to sit on your head in very uncomfortable ways. Plus the screws in are in hard spots to get at. I hope I never have to do this again.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Yet Another Update.

Changing my blower motor resistor was by far the worst thing I had to do on my car yet.

I broke the screw head off in the hole that's all the way against the fire wall. Never getting that out.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Yet Another Update.

And for you Chef, did I say I currently have the best looking? No.

How long did it take to build panda? Many years.

I am not even two years into this car, and going from bone stock to what it is now, I think I am making some decent progress.

And one last thing, I am sensing jealousy in your voice.

Mad jealous bro. Mad. You have a smexy GTP and I love it, one day once the lil woman is making money I will be able to buy me fun parts for mine.... or I'll get me a new 5.0 like the other cool kids. LOL I got jokes haha

But yes, many more years to work on her and everyday is a progression and you do well.... if you would just fix those blasted knee breaker tips of yours. hehe more jokes!

But in all seriousness with the resistor. As a parts guy and seller of these things, I must make note of your actions. Pull the 4-5 pin connector and look at it very carefully. More often than not, there is a burnt spot and meltedness that tends to be the true culprit and has a bastardly plan to destroy the replacement resistor you just installed. It will work for a couple days then BAM! another busted resistor. Not all the time the connectors are burnt but about 50/50 so give it a look over if you didn't already.

Afterwards, carry on and party hardy! Its the weekend. :th_beer-toast1:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Yet Another Update.

Saturday was an eventful day.

Took a 2.5 hour drive out to Anmar's house to get my car re-tuned.

We fix a vacuum leak I had and worked on his car a bit. Later in the evening we went out to get tuned by Ryan Carter. I have an exhaust leak in my flex pipe, and my Wideband o2 and my upstream o2 are right behind the flex. Like so:

Since there is an exhaust leak right by those two sensors, it's completely scewing up the readings and making my car run quite rich. He said he would tune my car with his own tune made up for it, but I won't notice much difference until the leak is fixed and the fuel tables are cleared, then re-learned.

We went out to tune my car, shift points set at 6k RPM now on the new tune, come to find out at 5500+ RPM my valves float quite bad. With 153k miles on stock valves/valvetrain, the valves must be shot and float like a mother f*cker after 5500 RPM and cause a HUGE spike in KR. On top of that I am getting lots of False KR from bad motor and trans mounts, and one last thing... My spark plugs are bad, after 8k miles. :th_shakinghead2:

With all that together, my car run's like dog sh1t after 5500 Rpm, and it's really hard to get "full" potential of the car without revving high at all. So we backed the shift points back down, lowered Timing again, and the car runs like a pig. Slow as Poo, like always. The only good thing, is it runs just a bit leaner. So basically, I spent $200 on getting a diagnostics of whats wrong with my car.

On the flip side, since my springs are bad, this is a good time to upgrade to 1.9 RR and drop to a 3.4. After all is fixed up, I'm bringing the car back to Ryan and he only charges $50+ for a Re-tune after his tune is already on there. Which is good news.

MY CAR IS PIECE OF POO, END OF STORY.

There is serious always something wrong. Never once in 2 years, have I been in the clear.

The vac leak was from the EVAP, I plugged the Evap but the vacuum cap was cracked.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Yet Another Update.

vacuum cap?

i removed all the components, the solenoid and valve and all lines.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Yet Another Update.

Stock cam won't make much power beyond 5500 rpm anyway... So just leave your shifts there.
