Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

Haha I thank you guy. :) But that's exactly what Josh and Jordon are trying to talk me into for next weekend (the 20th) annnd I'm still on the fence. I came to work today and I had been written on the schedule to work that weekend, when originally I was off. I had it corrected but who knows what they'll do... If I'm up there, bring it over we'll figure it out.

Your fuel filter MAY not come off easily, get a fuel filter line kit just incase yours doesn't come off. I had to cut mine off when I replaced it.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

Really? I never had a problem before. I mean if his is rusted up, use pb and turn the filter instead. should do the trick. or do I underestimate the impact of Michigan winters? :p

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

Ah, well hopefully he doesn't have to go through that. My car is a KS Car but apparently garage kept.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

I just spun the filter on my car but when i was putting it back on i kinked the line so i cut it and put a rubber line on there.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

I'm getting it fixed as soon as possible,I kind of need a car.

I have the last two plugs left to change, in the back of the engine but the plug wires are stuck on the plug really tight and its a pain to remove. Any way I can loosen them up some how? Or just keep tugging until my heart gives out?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

youre replacing the wires anyways, rip it off.. I find twisting and pulling gets them off easy.

I tried on the middle back cylinder, wire broke. So right now all I have is the plug and boot back there, that is going to be a B*tch to remove.

Back plugs should be done with care and loving tenderness... but occasionally you have to get rough and show her who's boss.

That is when I break out 3 things

Those gloves are the most used tool in my box. So many ways to slice yourself when working on these motors, the gloves are mandatory.

Now man up and get back in the game! :th_thumbsup-wink:

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

X2^^^^^^

i always try to wear leather work gloves for ripping off stuck plug wires, a good twist and pull usually does it, gloves protect your hand when it goes flying into stuff.

Agreed with TLSheff. Ratchet the engine forward if you can to give yourself more room and bust out some good gloves and either a pier of pliers or vice grips and twist and pull. Did mine without any of these when I first got the car and it was enough for me to hate buying it.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

Bro.

Easiest way, here...

Get a big pair of vice grips, clamp them on the plug boot...

Then pry against the valve cover.

Pops them off everytime.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

I didnt wear any gloves and my hands are torn apart. Lesson learned the hard way.

And for you nick, JUST FOR YOU, i bought copper plugs AND MSD wires.

Be happy with me now, that i actually listened to you.
