1996 Grand Prix

The LoKi

New member
Well I'm now here as you can see haha. Saw t his forum while trying to find out about my car and I have a 1996 Grand Prix (It says SE but on the orginal window sticker it says GTP) with a 3.4l DOHC. Just got it new to the whole grand prix thing besides everyone in my family owns one but there ideas for them are no were neer what i want to accomplish.

I was hopeing someone on here could help me and point me in the right direction of parts, help, and what type of mods i can do do my 96. I've been looking on this site and most people on here have 97 and up -.-

Thanks for the help!

A few people have a 96 on this site, but most if not all are pretty sure that the 3.4 is a boat anchor.

Welcome!

Yeah haha is there any way you can swap it for the 3800 if so that would be nice, re welding mounts are nothing but it would be nice if it would slide in like butter. would anyone know the answer to that question?

Talk to Dave @ Triple Edge Performance

Triple Edge Performance - Home Page

He swapped in a few 3800 in the 1st Gen W-Body's...great guy and very knowledgeable. As for the modding side, you can put a set of headers, catback, and an intake on the 3.4 DOHC, and if it is a 5-spd you can even do an upgraded clutch and flywheel. Besides those things...like stated, it isn't a good car to mod as they are like the LS4...very lacking in aftermarket support.

Pics of the car!

Sorry guys its been a while, but BlueGTP Thanks for the help I'll put pics up today sometime after work its not as sexy as most lol but in my eyes its the best grand prix body style and great condition due to were i live and how old it is.

Yeah, get some pics. I really like that body style for some reason. I guess it's just kind of refreshing since 99% of this site is 97+

Here you go Sheepdog - Unless you were expecting a shot of the engine? I would be embarrassed my valve covers are dirty as hell and everything is messy as hell its a project car in the works lol but the body is in GREAT shape besides the rust (which is minor two spots on the hood and two spots by the fender) and my spoiler is broken ATM but I am fixing that as we speak actually haha but other than that its sexy as hell, there is just something about this body style that gets butterfly's in my stomach, granted I still like the 97-early 02's but the "bubbly" style is just a lil on the uh side, I love the old school "boxy" look.

*****ty Phone Photo's* (sorry for quality)
