1971 Datsun

Front cover bolt...and it's one of the funky long ones.

Only other thing that bolt head does is keep the plastic crank cover with a slot that keeps the wiring harness in check so the pulley doesn't rape it.

ill leave it there just adjust the mounting... hell ill just seal it to the cover permanently lol

well it runs but have no oil pressure..... none what so ever.... pisses me off dont know what i did wrong. is there some kind of oil pump priming that i dont know about?

did you crank the engine over with no plugs a bunch of times till you saw oil pressure? thats the easy way to prime it.

and theres spring and piston in the oil filter housing, make sure thats in right. or you get no oil pressure. if you pre filled the filter, check to see if its dry. we had a guy who spring and shaft were wrong got no oil pressure but it also sucked the filter dry.

oh, if you pull the oil pressure sensor and no oil comes out the hole, good chance its that spring and shaft in the housing.

I was sure i put it in right... solid piece then spring behind it. might not have though cause the filter was dry so refilled it and tried again... yes turned it over a ton, thought it might have been my gauge so went ahead and fired it up. then shut it down lol...

Scotty your right i installed it in wrong... ignore the milk shake not my motor, but i did not install it like this.... im such a dumbass...

There needs to be a "Sticky" on how to install that oil pressure plunger/spring.....seems like over the last few months there has been multiple installing that incorrectly.

Easy fix as long as he didn't let it keep running like that.

agree with the sticky the book didnt have a good picture and I thought i was putting it in right, no it didnt run more than 5 secs like that, and there was a ton of assembly lube on the bearings so it should be fine.

WOOT!!!! it runs... really wanted to close everything up and drive it, but i had a bad fall while snowboarding on Saturday so i got some bruised ribs and its hard to do anything. need to clean up the wiring and fix the ALT bracket more permanently. here is a clip of it running phone took it sideways, and sorry for the crappy sound.

Later... one more thing, the torque app only registers 11psi oil pressure at idle but my autometer guage says 60+ its hooked up just above the oil filter on the left side of the engine.

well drove it around today..... was very happy no knock no leaks, didnt beat it yet going to wait atleast 300 miles before that lol. just thought id let everyone know. thanks for the help everyone. ill keep posting on whats going on with it.
