How the heck can i only be getting 13.8 mpg in my 2004 gtp? i have Ceramic coated headers, no cat downpipe 3in all the way back, cold air intake, Tuned by last owner. Im thinking i might need new Spark plugs? i really am not peeling out ,or driving it hard a ton.

what mods are done to the car? check plugs/wires. how many miles? might even need a new fuel filter

its not the plugs causing that bad of mileage. If it was you would have an ses light on and more than likely be able to hear a misfire. Its more than likely the way it was tuned that is causing too much fuel to be used. if you have a scaner check the fuel trim

Matt, not necessarily. Depends on how the car was tuned..... How do you know it isnt tuned Open Loop? Also, how do you know they couldnt figure it out, so just set the SES light to no mil or no report? Anything can happen if someone who has no clue what they are doing starts messing with the PCM.....

really common to see with leaky headers and closed loop. The o2 sensor picks up fresh air readings, thinks it is driving around death valley and its -30 degrees... then and adds a crap load of fuel when its not needed.

If not leaky headers then it would have plenty to do with the o2 sensor and or some other common issues. My gtp has never gotten less than 24mpg, and my crappy GTP with plug wires/plugs so bad it wont really even run at wot, and has a broken o2 sensor, gets 19-20.

only scott is crazy enough to do that.

No, tons of people tune in open loop... its just that overlly common outside of clubgp.

The only people that think its crazy are people that are just long time armchair haters, that never actually do the stuff I do on a daily basis.

Im a big OL fan myself... Prefer SD OL on the LS series stuff, but not sure how well it would work on the 3800 S/C'd stuff.

The last owner had it tuned. I have a check engine light, but it was on when i got the car , owner said the guy didnt clear it after tuning.
