13.8 MPG! wow....

I don't have a rear o2 It isn't needed on the pre01 cars but i'm sure it's probably needed on the 01+ ones.

Im a big OL fan myself... Prefer SD OL on the LS series stuff, but not sure how well it would work on the 3800 S/C'd stuff.

I ran both for a couple months- seemed more responsive and wasnt hard to tune with wide band.

i wouldn't sell a car with SD OL wothout the buyer knowing as the tune is highly sensitive to atmospheric conditions and needs close monitoring.

Update :
Had a super bad ypipe leak typical pacesetter problems, testing the mpg as we speak, will update soon, if this didn't fix it I'm going to be heated lol

Meh, my buddy recently moved to Colorado with his open loop NIC car... Works fine.

Here's a simple idea for you too. What t-stat are you running. If its a 160* get rid of it and go back stock. Or just change it for good measure. If your car's not getting upto operating temp you'll burn more fuel.

I've seen comparisons of MAF and SD calcs on a V8 PCM.

It seems they were both as accurate, but the MAF had more outliers.

Flexibility of the SD tune would depend on its accuracy.

Who is talking about speed density.... I have only heard of one guy actually trying to run his naturally asperated car on SD mode full time.

Good point.

However I can only think of two reasons you'd want to run open loop though.

Lean cruise or by-pass MAF.

Honestly, we have to see the tune that's on the car and what the DTC is to pass judgement. If the car is in otherwise good working order... i.e. headers don't leak, no vacuum leaks, then I would cover maintenance basics. If the plugs and wires are original then get some new delco wires and Autolite 104's and set the gap to .055. If the tune is anything like ZZP's, the power enrich TPS enable could be set really low like 30% across the board. I raised my PE TPS enable back up to stock because it was going in to PE way too often when it was unnecessary.

You can run in sorta closed loop in SD mode though.... The few SD LSx cars I have tuned pretty much need to have a narrowband helping them out for cold/hot stuff unless you really play with dialing in the tune.... Even then I had problems.

Hey Snazzy do you still have your rear o2 sensor? If you don't its prob running cat diagnostic test all the time which would explain the low mpg...my 04 comp g is getting around 19 in town but I also have PE set at 30% so I need to raise that back up because it goes into PE real easy with the 3.29 gears

Gas mpg is. Still bad, actually a little worse than before with the exhaust all sealed up now, i do not Still have a rear o2
