06 Grand Prix rear brake help needed

I'm replacing the rear pads on my 06. Everything is fine, but I cannot for the life of me get the piston to compress back into the caliper. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

if you see 2 dimples on the piston it most likely turns in. not pushes.

Turns clockwise, I assume?

not sure, mine press back in. one way or the other, some people have said they use a pair of needle nose pliers to turn them back in. open them up and put the tips in the dimples then turn.

Yes turn them clock wise.

Here's what it looks like. I don't see any way to turn it.

Stick a needle nose in those slots, or go rent the tool to do it.

Thanks for the help, guys. This is by far the newest car I've ever done brakes on. The second-newest is a 96. lol

It's a brake compressor tool. I own one because i do enough brakes to make it worthwhile.

Yeah, I just very carefully use some chainnose pliers there. Be careful not to slip and cut the rubber boot... that part's important.

Or do the free loaner tool from the local parts store.
