04 GT2 Turbo TOTALED!!

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

Well I have a completely stock 98 gt.. And blue doesn't have a gp anymore he has the lobalt.

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

yea its transparent so ud be good, most ppl use 4-5 coats, along with clearcoat so they will be glossy, also have to do prep work, wetsanding/washing the lights etc

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

ive noticed that found a thread talking about night shade and whats best some different opions on there but the ones that match and have the best looking head lights going to take there advice. sounds preaty simple though. btw some advice on doing a turbo would be nice any one i want to research doing a turbo and find out alot more about it

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

Take them to your local paint shop and have them hit with 50% black, 50% clear. Should be pretty cheap.

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

im preaty sure im going to just do it myself. very few things do i take my car to be done by some one else. thank you for the suggestion though. now my tint some one else is doing that

Do this. VHT looks like s**t if you don't know how to do it. Tiny shop can tint them for very cheap and look 100% better. Don't cheap out. The cheaper you go generally the cheaper it ends up looking. Good luck

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

I preach this on the 'Balt boards because it's a bunch of 16~ year olds with a few older guys...

Do it right; or don't do it at all.

You'll thank yourself later...Take them to a local paint shop. Have them actually painted. Shouldn't be very much money either at all, as they just use basic black and standard clear...a 50/50 mix is legit. I loved mine on my Grand Prix's, had the same guy do them...he charged me $50~ or so. This is nightshades with no clear or sanding...puke:

These are the same cars with the professionally done tails...

Best part about it is that nothing wears off over time like VHT/clear does...doesn't get sun spotted or anything...and you can wax it with the rest of the car and is super clean ;)

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

hey i really appriciate your advise i do but i know my skill level is well enough up there for doing some rattle can myself if it does turn to **** i take it off and go get it done pro. ive seen what can happen if you rush and what can happen if you take your time and put the effort ill post pics of when i do it and how it turns out.

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

Just make sure they're clean and everything is up to room temp...VHT is pretty touchy.

Oh...and take off that engine cover already...ha

those are vht done by warbeaver and they can be polished and washed and everything else just like the rest of the car and those wont sun spot or wear off ive done rattle can before. and my grandfather will be helping he does professional painting on old classics. i kow what im doing. i do greatly appriciate all of yours guys advice i greatly do but on this its going to be a diy btw the white gp's lights still look kinda fogged and the bluish one does look okay but cant tell to much cause its in shadow

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

This. Hmm what looks better dull tails or shiney tails..proofs in the pudding.

Hopefully it turns out how you want it.

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

lol warbeaver...Tyler was something else...not even gonna get into that one.

And you can clean it with tire foam...that's how I used to detail all the engine bays I did.

And...with it being an L26, you can paint the UIM just fine...it'll really set the engine bay off.

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

uim? oh upper intake manifold got ya. yea havnt really decided what would be best color for it yet and plan on doing the valve covers too. im going to ordwe new spark plug wires that are blue to go with every thing im thinking blue black and silver for colors in the engine bay i dont want to over do the blue and want some other colors to accent it and complement the blue

Re: 04 grand prix gt2!!

Ewww, plastic LIM gaskets.

Gotta take care of that, son.

I also think that I've got a cast iron L67 coil pack bracket if you want it you're welcome to it...better than that alummy junker that's prone to cracking.
