01 gp gt vs. 97 mustang gt

Ahh thanks for pointing that out.yea on zzp it says the ssm90 kit makes 60hp and 60tq, while i read a normal top swap makes 50hp and 55tq.

wrong. I was at 177 wheel horsepower with my N/A set-up which consisted of CAI, 180 Tstat, ubend delete, high flow cat, GT1 cam, #90 springs/retainers, HV3, and high velocity throttle body (keep in mind this is with 20's on)

I did a top swap and I hit 254 wheel horsepower (this is also with 20's on)

so that means I gained 77 wheel horsepower from the top swap.

I know that every car is different but still, thats a ton of power added.

and if you don't believe this I can post pics of the dyno numbers that zzp gave me..it has the N/A setup graph and the top swapped graph on the same sheet showing the before and after.

the ssm90 kit does make good power, but the injector placement is what is the bad part (they are angled differently and apparantly isn't as safe either) everyone has their own opinions im sure, but to me and with my experience a top swap is the way to go.

You have no idea what your talking about. And truth be known the GT heads Flow a few CFM more then the GTP heads because the injectors bungs are not in there. I dynod 30 more WHP then you ON STOCK CAM and valvetrain. FWIW 2001 grand prix GT DYNP - Car Videos on StreetFire. Everyone has a opinion sure, but your just passing along inaccurate information. The quickest m90SS car runs low 11's BTW

yea seriously bro.Im talking just a swap with maybe an intake added and a 3in downpipe making 50-60hp.Not all your mods. And your Gt mods should have gave you more power than that cuz my boy had a grand prix Gt with K&N,HV3, plog and 2.5in catless downpipe and made 183whp

he got those low hp numbers because of his heavy 20's, evey car is different

from what i heard the ssm90 kit is work (as in less to remove from the top end) but way more expensive. and 1 belt for everything will make diagnosing any possible supercharger problem a PITA

just my :th_twocents:

You can run a dual belt setup if you get GTP pulleys. Not a big deal. Both ways have there pros and cons against each other. But to say a ssm90 isnt safe isnt true. And who dynos in 20 inch rims lol

haha I know I shouldn't have gotten it dyno'd with my 20's on but I figured thats the way its going to be if I race on the street, I know its robbing a ton of power but I like them.

and dmahlikegt, clearly my numbers are lower because I have 20's

and o1gpgt01, you went from 160'ish at the wheel stock to 275 just by doing the ssm90? it thats true thats impressive but the first ive ever heard of making that much more power. I think that I would be around there if I didn't have 20's lol

That was on a 3.6 pulley headered setup.

Just for reference...my buddy had a FWI/180*/AL605's/PEM's/3" DP/3" Single outlet catback (It was an SE)/GTP TB/GTP Injectors/LS6 Springs&Retainers/GT2 Cam/HV3/Dyno Tuned...and it made just over 200 FWHP...on a conservative tune. Pretty sure he could have gotten pretty close to your 250 horse without boost by having the LIM/Heads P&P'd, Porting the L67 TB, getting headers, and going balls out with the tune...and I bet it would have ran better than mid 14's...which is where it was at before he yanked the motor out.

I would highly doubt that would happen if he had chrome 20's on like I do. but ya never know I suppose
