supercharger question

Hey guy's is it normal for that purge solenoid (i think that's what it is) making a ticking noise all the time? it the thing that has a black plastic hose and a red plug that plugs into it by the back of the motor.
 


that would be your map, or evap sensors back there.

how many vac lines does the part have, one in one out. or just one vac line to it.
 
nope. at least mine dont. take the vac line off it and check it for a gas, or a gas smell. sounds like you need a new one tho.
 
ok i think i found my problem with my misfire codes, 1. i noticed the the vacuum t that hook's to the fuel pressure regulator was loose, so i fixed that. 2. my idle air Control Valve was really dirty so i cleaned it. I went to work this morning and checked the misfire codes with the reader and there is no misfire so far, so hopefully one of those was the problem.
 
I was reading some other threads and i was wondering where my car is supercharged should is it alright to use regular gas or should i be using supreme?
 




Ya owners manual states 91+ minimum octane to be used ONLY. 93-94 is best if you can find it.

Run that tank down as low as you can get it, put in a can of B12, Seafoam, or some other fuel cleaner stuff, fill up with 91+ and change the plugs. I bet you will be driving a different car afterwards..
 
i can feel the difference right away when im running bad 93 to good 93, ( some stations do have better gas) 87 back to 93 where you belong should make a difference in the cars power.

dont know where plaster rock is but 93 can be that much more then 87, maybe 3 bucks more a tank. after a while you stop looking at the price for 87, as only 93 matters now.:th_winking:

Thanks for all the info guys, and Plaster rock is in New Brunswick Canada.
 


Most stations I see on average is about 10cents difference between 87, 89, 91+. Some stores I've seen have had a 50cent difference between 87-94. Usually I put in about 14.5-15 gallons to fill up.

@ $0.30 x 15gal - $4.50 extra to top off.

@ $0.50 x 15gal - $7.50 extra to top off.

Now that sound like quite abit, but fixing a motor after you chip a piston is substantially more. And truth is I tend to spend less than $50 a week to fill up on 93 from Loves or Shell depending on which is closer when I get low. Comparing to how the car runs on 87 and how little difference there really is, I'll always put in the good stuff. Even if its not called for, my 4 previous vehicles were all NA and all ran on 91 or higher.
 
If the car is bone stock as well, I'd recommend at least removing the u-bend...it's a cheap, cheap fix at a local exhaust shop to help kill a bunch of knock.
