Re-read page 1. The 9007 bulb has two tungsten filaments in different positions so that the light reflects differently off the back of the housing.

HID bulbs only have one arc. To change the pattern of the light, you have to move the arc. The retracting motion works fine for H4 bulbs because the filaments are inline. The 9007 bulb filaments are next to each other.

Don't waste money on a set for the high beams. HIDs are not practical there. Get a set for the low beams only, and make a wiring modification to keep the low beam HIDs on while the high beam halogens are operating. That works the best.
 


I got a question about this headlights off of ebay eBay Motors: 97-03 Grand Prix Twin HALO BLACK Projector Headlights (item 230302730024 end time Oct-26-08 21:00:47 PDT) I got HID on the stock headlights right now but they have mist inside and look moldy. I want to get black headlights but was questioning if my 10k bulbs will melt this ebay ones and how would I wire them HALP!

Yellow film on the inside of the burner capsule? That's normal. The halide salts and metal solids condense on the inside of the glass after they cool down from their vapor state. Color "temperature" has no bearing on thermal temperature, so 10k lamps are not warmer than 5k lights... HIDs burn cooler than their halogen counterparts.
 
Ok, I have a question for Brian...I would rather just have the horn honk and no lights flash (which isn't an option, but the other way around is). couldn't I just cut the wire from the alarm and tape the ends off ergo horn, but no flashy? would there be any ill effect to doing this

If not, to recap in short: I would like to keep the auto headlight feature...is there a way to install a timer in line with the sensor so once the sensor trips it starts the timer? Also where would I go to get such a timer?

Yes, you can install a timer that delays power to the headlamps. Most remote starters have a delay-on output for such things. Which starter do you have?
 
OK read damn near all of the thread:th_scratchhead: but i was wondering what you would recommend for HID kit 5000 (crystal white) but i wont have stock headlights for much longer I'm gonna get the black halo projectors and i dunno much about HID kits just that i want them and better yet I'm gonna have projectors too well just let me know what you guys think thanks in advance its a 99 GTP no alarm just stock and how would i do the wiring on keeping the lows and highs on at the same time and also is there a way i could make it to were my halos turn instead of my day time running lights i dunno if its possible but wouldn't it bad on the HIDs to flash every time i lock my car

hey man,,,im a new member and i jsut ordered my HID kit ..its an 8000 k and also have the set for my fogs...wonderin if you could maybe contact me for a walk through becasue this stuff is all new to me and i dont comprehend the stuff on this thread.. y the wire switch? stuff like that? any help would be appreciated

Tips on a HID 9007 rewire? I have this problem where sometimes when i turn on the lights one or none of the headlights turn on right away. I sometimes have to turn the headlight knob a couple of times to work. The instructions didn't say which is high/low beam and which one is constant power. I was guessing that the constant power was the middle input on the factory headlamp socket/harness. What type of relay would i need to rewire these HID's, knowing that the instructions call for a 20a fuse.

^^^This is due to lack of proper voltage getting to the HID ballasts...the stock wiring on the GP SUCKS...the HID's pull more power than stock headlights at initial startup...and stock wiring will not handle it...you MUST get an upgraded harness...I have never seen/used the zzp one...I don't know if its the single HID, Bi-Xenon (HID lows & highs) or the combo HID (low)/halogen (high) setup but either way the single best place to get an upgrade harness hands down is here:

if you need an HID low and Halogen High harness which I don't see listed on their website...just email them or call them and tell them what you have and they can probably help you.

As far as reference to which wire is what...you will need to use a DMM (digital multi-meter) which can be bought at walmart, lowes, home depot, etc. (cheapest will work for this if you have no plans of using one again any time soon....I have a nice one as I use them fairly often), to check what wires are what....you'll need to ground the black lead on the DMM to the chassis of the car (unpainted metal to ensure good contact) then with the headlights on (low) use the RED lead from the DMM to probe the stock wiring harness to find the "Hot" wire. now turn the high beams on and re-probe the harness again until you find the "Hot" wire. Once that is done the only one left is the GROUND wire....now just compare the factory harness to one of the vehicles headlight bulbs to find out which spot/contact on the Bulb/HID connector is for the low beam and which is for the high beam. I am not sure you will need to do that as it sounds like its wired properly, but isn't getting the voltage it needs.

Hope I made it simple enough to understand and hope it helps ya! Oh and I have the above single HID wiring harness and its a great product...I highly recommend it.

Thanks brian...not sure which starter I have, but I will look into it...and check on the remote start timer thing...much appreciated....also still debating building my own timer and making a plug & play harness for it.
