changing rack and pinion boot 2000 gtp

How difficult is it to change the rack and pinion boot on the driver's side of a 2000 gtp? mine is leaking. how hard is it to undo the rear clamp, and I assume you need to take off the tie rod end?

well if a shop does it, it can cost up to 500 easy.

if your up to it you can buy a new one for around 200 or less and swap it yourself.

mine took me 4 hours to do. also did it alone, no help.

its not horrible, but not fun either. in reality its only a 25 bolt job. its just tight to work in.

10 bolts are lug nuts, the (2) tie rod ends bolts, 2 sway bar end links, 4 bolts that hold the sway bar in place(2 on each side), 2 bolts that hold the power steering pump lines to the rack, 1 bolt that holds the steering shaft to the rack, the 2 bolts that hold the rack to the sub frame, and the 2 rear bolts that hold the sub frame up, you need to lower it for extra room.

I didn't have to take my sway bar off it only took me about an hour and a half the first time I did it. Buy new don't use a jy one unless you like changing it again. I had to do mine twice since the jy one was bad.
