Engine fusebox wires melted

When the hood closes it closes on top
Of the fuse box wire and thats where the amp wire was connected at also.

I know but mine is doesn't even come close to touching the top of the fuse box. Unless your amp wire was sticking up and it shorted out before the fuse, that's the only way I can see the main battery cable getting fried. If the amp line shorted after the fuse, the fuse would pop and end of story.

We have a winner.

Fuse is AFTER that wire so I'm guessing it grounded right there in that spot. Which In turn heated up the battery cable. Which in turn started smoking and which in turn gave my hood that nice burn mark. Well it could have been worse. So should I b ok to make it home tonight? It's like a 20 min drive home.

Yea I removed the amp wire from that location. Well is just plain unhooked. So I should buy new battery cables correct? Hard to install?

Well my amp wire isn't connected straight to my battery. It's connected
At the fuse box connection.
