This is like a temp sensor on the back of the motor. I swapped the motors and did not realize this was missing until I got it all back together and now I cant get this in? What is this and is it required? Thanks kEVIN
 


Only sensor on teh back of the motor that could be an issue is the knock sensor. It's possible. Put a little teflon paste on the threads and in it goes. do what you have to in order to do it. I'm thinking deep socket with a swivel. Torque is 14ft lbs. Too much and you'll read more knock than you should. too loose and you don't read enough.

Then get that pigtail on it (long needle nose pliers) and smile.. you earned it.
 
Billboost, I assume based upon this it is required then correct? I cant seem to find any way to get it up in there now that the motor and tranny is in. Is there a smaller version available?
 
You can do it. I know that for a fact. There's no smaller. This is your penance for forgetting it.

You must run it... that's a hole into the water jacket.
 


Nope..you aren't skating on this on Chuck. Next time poke that baby with a screwdriver etc and you'll have another gallon of coolant out of the block.
 


rico your smarter than that.....if you look up from the bottom, between the trans pan and oil pan you can see it clearly, with a extension and socket it can be done.

i tend to see mine all the time when im cleaning up my oil leaks lol
 
I was wondering why my block was slowly leaking for a weak after getting it on the stand.:th_scratchhead:
 
I'm dead serious...didn't know that.
Oh well.

I remember feeling up in there and it felt like cast iron blind hole...
and this was on a block that just came out of the tank!
 


Thanks for all the help here guys. I was able to get it but boy was it tough. I have another question. The exhaust "y: just behind the motor which takes the (2) 10 mm studs. I have the thin metal gasket in there but was wondering if there was a donut gasket or something else that goes in there as well. That metal thin gasket just does not seem like enough. Thanks,
