ZZPerformance High Velocity Throttle Body

19GTP98

New member
I was looking at some things online today while I was having my code issues as explained in another thread. I found that ZZP sells a Stage 1 throttle body for 199.99 w/core exchange. After I priced out all the sensors that I was looking at possibly replacing I noticed that the ZZP throttle body comes with all the sensors and is cheaper then replacing the sensors. Now my question is, has anyone purchased this from ZZP and if so, feed back pleaseeee!!!

If the TB is bigger than stock, you'd need a tune because the readings will be off. And its un-needed because you cant outflow the stock one.

Its better to just fix your sensors and be on your way.

Mustang and LSx owners see decent gains from being otherwise stock to upgrading their throttle bodies. I don't think bone stock cars are "outflowing" their stock TBs. To say it's unneeded is an opinion but you seem to be saying that it won't help him make more power... which it most definitely will.

Without a tune it'll probably run worse

Why would it run worse?
All a bigger TB is doing is allowing more air to be ingested per revolution. Same thing almost any bolt on does. Do these cars run worse if you add headers without a tune?

The maf stays stock but it is seeing more air and messing with it. If you don't believe me go out and pull your screen out of your tb and check your ft's. They will be way off and cause KR

Removing the screen can cause turbulence across the sensor... completely different. Porting a stock TB and keeping the stock MAF will do absolutely nothing to make the car run worse.

OP, getting a throttle body that retains the stock MAF will not affect your tune at all.
Good luck with your power/maintenance goals.

He wont gain anything from a bigger throttle body, and it needs a tune whenever the TB is made bigger.

Its not about making the car run worse, its about making sure the PCM/MAF knows exactly how much air can flow into the motor at any given time.

incorrect. the maf sensor reads a small amount of air vs the diameter of the TB. if the sensor stays the same and that diameter increase or changes then the ratio is now different. the same amount of air will now cause a different reading and the ft's will be off and could cause drivability issues.

also it is true that removing the screen does not "cause" more turbulence, but it prevents the existing turbulence from being smoothed out. if you remove the screen then tune the car you can now account for the new variables as with installing this tb, it is recommended you get a tune.
