Why don't you just swap a VR4 engine. Block is capable of around 600. Stock is 320. Then tune and or upgrade turbos and you gain a lot more
 


that is a good point, they are torque monsters.... im just in love with that m90 whine.... i think switching to a different blower would cost even more than a straight turbo build...

some guy on here did it...cost more than a turbo build and it wasnt worht it.
for the record, hes in the process of going turbo.
 


i dont really care about numbers as much as results, i dont care if your smart car has 48 horsepower, a 10 second time slip is a 10 second time slip right?
 
my buddy has a 10 second vr4.... ill give them props on performace, but im not a big mitsu fan, or dodge.... i f ing hate dodge
 
i think part of the reason i wanna do it so bad is ive never seen one... maybe i just need to find someone with a twin chaged vehicle and drive it and get it out of my system... i mean it has to sound pretty damn awesome... especially running some openheaders... i might have to put a picture of my grandma on the dash so i dont get a woodie driving it.....

My recommendation is get a 3000gt se trans and drivetrain And the engine from the VR4. It would be much easier than twincharging. Plus you would break 10's a lot easier.

Also. Weight reduction ;)

No far from that. People hit 500-600+ on stock bottom ends. Matt from ZZP did 750ish on his. This why you don't see very many rebuilds and most of the time a used block is dropped in. If 400hp was the breaking point turbo guys would build up a block before converting.

True true. I might have been thinking supercharged. Turbo is the best way to make power. You hardly need to touch the internals of the engine.
 
only reason why people stop making power supercharged is because the supercharger we have is lacking and turbo is a way more efficient power adder.

Um...no. At the track, with drag radials or slicks, I guarantee my twincharged car would destroy most turbo cars with the same internal mods. I only have a ST2 cam and 105# springs. If I was to upgrade to a ST5 cam, some ported heads, 130# springs, and up the boost to 20psi, I guarantee I would decimate mos, if not all turbo 3.8s out there (minus DarkHorizon who's Fiero weighs half of what a GP does :th_biggrin2:)

The OP is right about how the power is distributed. The supercharger is there for low end power and it spools the bigger turbo faster. Most turbo GPs run a T61 turbo so it makes some power around 3500rpms. A properly setup twincharged setup (like mine) will be able to spin a larger turbo (T67 in my case) at around the same, if not lower, rpms. I'm at full spool at 3000rpms, and making a lot more power than a T61 would be making at those rpms.

unless you have a diff blower the eaton will max out pretty quickly on a turbo setup.
by that time it'll be a restriction rather than a help.
stock heads will be fine on a turbo build, but porting will def help especially if you get a nice turbo cam.
yes turbo lag sucks...but at the same time how much power is actually usable in those low rpm's? usually low rpm power translates to wheel spinning. our 3.8's have the capability for a lot of torque as it is.

WAY WAY WAY incorrect info here. The supercharger is NOT a restriction when it comes to a twincharged setup. It's a positive displacement blower, so it literally takes everything that is put in front of it and slings it into the motor. The best analogy I've heard is this: Think of the blower as a garbage can that can normally hold 50 gallons of trash. his is a normal GTP motor with the M90. Now, lets say you have a trash compactor and you put all of your trash into the compactor before you put i in the trash can. You can fit a lo more trash into the trash can after it's been compacted, right? This is how a twincharged setup works.

Also, spinning wheels is not something that should be corrected be limiting the power of the motor. Upgrading to better tires and learning how to launch a high powered car on the street is how you compensate for spinning wheels.

Buy a turbo kit and run it, sell your blower parts and then grenade your transmission.

Taking the time to make a proper twincharged setup is just dumb when you can have the same resluts if not better with just running a straight turbo.
