LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help! **UPDATED July 19**

POS POS, just finished the LIM job took me 2 weeks because I am extremely busy. Last GTP had the same ticking noise, I did the LIM job and the tick went away. This new POS got the LIM job and the tick remains. I pulled off supercharger blet no change, pulled eash of the front injectors no change. Put a screwdriver everywhere but can't seem to hear anything quite as loud... Oil colour is pristine and no signs of anything in the oil.

I got no time to deal with this crap & need a car.

Video below:

Opinions please?
Lucas Oil Stabilizer?

put some seafoam in the oil and if it goes away then change the oil out and put lucas oil stabalizer in it.

Get some seafoam or a quart of transmission fluid put into the engine oil and let it run. Sounds like you have a lifter gone bad. Would have been a simple job to replace them while the lower intake was off...

but yea, get some seafoam or trans fluid in your oil. It will act as a detergent and hopefully clean the collapsed lifter and allow it to pump up.

I also think you should put a bottle of seafoam into your oil - run the car for about 100 miles, 150 at most and change the oil. It could be a lifter.

Re: LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help!

id listen close for witch side the noise is coming from, front or back, and then pull the valve cover and see whats what.

that defiantly sounds like rocker clap, due to bent push rod or a dead lifter.try some 40 weight oil, it may fix it up. but worth looking at.

take the cover off and run the engine, if you spin the push rods you should be able to tell if its bent or not, and should see the rocker making the noise, grab it while its running it will be loose.

For starters I am going to pull the valve covers & have a look. If nothing visible, then going to swap oil to 10W40, grab some seafoam & wait till night time then smoke out the district. If that still doesn't work I will pull the valve covers again, remove rockers and pushrods to look for problems. If that still doesn't work then into the motor again I guess to replace lifters...

Is this the correct approach?

they sell cheap mecanics stethoscopes for about 10 bucks or less, id get one and play Dr. first, then pull the cover with the noise.

Tried that yesterday with a screwdriver, couldn't really hear a big difference between the banks. Injectors were making lots of noise using that method in comparison to placing the driver on the valve cover. Will see about getting one tonight.

I think the way your wanting to approach it sounds good let us know what you find out..... And Good luck!

Re: LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help!

So your going to pull the valve covers two times? Why not pull it once..check rocker and pushrods make sure they're tighten to specs and not bent. start the car if noise persist then possible change oil and or inspect lifters?

Re: LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help!

I am somewhat more sure that the noise is coming from the rear bank and kinda below the lim. I am going to seafoam tonight. If that is a fail then pull everything out again except the sc and lim. Inspect rockers and pushrods the with valve covers off.

Re: LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help!

I am not sure you can pull the rear valve covers with all that bull**** back there and be able to start car?

Re: LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help!

you can run it, just hook up the vac lines and the sensor back there after you take the cover off, leave the alt to the side but hooked up. i think the red power line needs to be hooked up or the car wont start up. like no crank maybe.

Re: LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help!

Sea foam failed.... Tomorrow will pull valve covers and have a look. More vids to come

Re: LIM job just finished & still ticking!! VIDEO & Help!

Well this sucks, looks like I have to drain coolant again to get rear valve cover off, as the alternator bracket needs to come off.
