So i'm thinking of acutally selling my car...

if he got a v6 and topswapped (he already has a genV) plus supporting mods for a 3.4, he would be quicker then a stock ls1, and it would still be cheaper then buying a firebird with an ls1. According to what i'm seeing.

That's the truth. It's been done so few times you can count it on one hand. There was one thread on here, and I talked to a guy that said he had one done about 10ish years ago. Biggest issue is hood clearance and then it boils down to not being worth it.

a 3.4 pulley 3.8 isnt faster than a stock ls1. LMAO.
you would need a cam and about a 3.2 pulley to even hit 300 whp...which is still, slower than stock LS1 territory. not to mention our horrible top end vs. their great top end.

supporting mods for a 3.4 on a top swapped car would include a cam or intercooler, and it would probably be impossible to get an i/c to fit unless your going to just drive around with the hood off, so a cam'd 3.4 firebird would still not be faster than stock ls1 car

anddddddd i'm slowly starting to want to keep muh karr
and whudduhya know, it blows a brake line. just after i ordered lowering springs -____-

My buddy's stock 01 trans am w/113k on the clock put down 295rwhp. Don't remember the torque but I want to say it was around 330rwtq.

It happens man. I've been battling with my self over selling verse keeping the car for well over a year now. Same reasoning as you. Want a manual with RWD/AWD.

ok so.im just going to keep the damn thing till the end of time. and depending on my budget/resources in the future ill just do the LS1/6spd/rwd swap like ive been wanting too.but for now, stick to my mods list.and for reference, Erik is right.even in a sixer bird I'd still be faster then an eightpot TransAm.

too expensive to mod. + i know 3800's fairly well already.
and i like being different

The bolt ons aren't expensive for the LS1

You can get speed daddy headers for about the same price that they cost for the GTP
The lid costs $100 new compared to any CAI set up for the GTP, it costs half or less.
The ported TB is only $50 bucks on ebay plus the core price.
Get a used hand held tuner for about $100-$150 it's better than any canned tune and cheaper than buying HPtuners.
Now the LS6 intake is expensive if your car doesn't come with one already, you can probably get one used for $350-$400.

With these bolt-ons I still get great mileage and getting this kind of power with a 3800 is way more complicated, expensive and unreliable.

Topswapping isn't even worth it for the effort involved. Turbo or nothing as far as a 3800 fbody goes. You'll make waaaaaaaaaay more power, waaaaaaay easier. And it'll be easier to work on. Theres not much cowl clearance to begin with. Adding a blower isn't going to help. Intercooling it is damn near impossible too. Basically have to get cradle spacers to move the engine down to make clearance. Then headers are getting close to the ground, especially if you get LT's.
Long story short. Turbo or bust.

you going to LS1 6 spd RWD swap your GP?

someone actually read that ... lol

yes.

hopefully oneday.

then i'll just poop all over everyone.

just sayin' that if i do swap over.

plan to see me and my car on Cops more than once.
as 'the one who got away.'

I still have my Grand Prix, but the RWD/Manual bug won me over. I unsuccessfully tried getting my hands on a '99 Camaro last summer. The guy backed out of trading it to me. It was a 3800 with the T5. I actually had plans to turbo it.

Since then, I got sick of my DD ('10 Malibu) and found out I could have what I wanted for $100/month more... and on a shorter financing period! If you want something, look for it. Just be sure it's what you want.
