Ohh man, it was a tough decision to remove it. I kinda had little soft spot for my pin stripe, but I did it and I'm glad I did
it'd be a lot easier to pull this off with the fenders rolled up.
but it looks like you're executing nicely. good work.
Haha every time I've almost gotten a hold of a roller, something happens. A friend of a friend bailed on loaning it to me and I keep getting called into work every time I'm about to leave to rent one :th_tongue2: Its frustrating lol

So I mentioned that I took a trip to the pull-a-part and got a black fender since my passenger one was all dented up. I managed to get that on yesterday and I'm real happy with how it looks and fits. I kinda like the black

im not trying to sway you in any way, it's your car and you do as you please.
but i would heavily consider the use of a rubber mallet and heat gun instead of the roller. the roll won't be as 'smooth', but you'll get a better overall roll of the lip. the hardest part is figuring out how hard you have to hit the fender before it starts to move. you just need to keep it HOT with the heat gun and you're good to go. i've done all my cars with a hammer, not a roller. i use the roller for other peoples cars.

I have always used a baseball or softball bat which is a little redkneck I know lol...thing that worked that best was grabbed some pipe off the rack at work jacked up the car a touch to get correct angle and used tire to slowly roll inner fender...I have seen some real crap roll jobs with a actual roller...once you get it started the mallet idea that bio was talking about actually works nicely also

Thanks for the advice, I decided to go with your method because I was a little impatient and my friend's uncle happened to have some really nice mallets to choose from. Over all I'm so happy with how it turned out. Nothing came out wavy or dented and its really pretty smooth.
For anyone who would maybe like to know about the process, the fronts were a little hard to judge for how hard to hit and if you hit it wrong (more out than up and if you dont put pressure with your hand on the outside of the fender) they tend to pull the front bumper out funny. The back fenders are kinda thick and we just got them real hot and beat the crap out of them, first in an upward direction and then a little outward to fold the lip up. The backs took some pretty hard hits to get started and a bunch of heat. And better still, all of the paint is still in good condition and it only cost me getting dinner for my friend vs renting a roller

nice work! glad to hear the rolling went smoothly with the hammer. now that you've done it you can do any car, it's just a matter of how hard you can hit each car and making sure everything is hot.
if you ever come down to it (not sure that you will since you got the 8.75" wide wheels), you can do a nice pull on the fenders with a phone book. same heat process, but put the phone book between the tire and fender and drop the fender down onto the book. raise it up, move the book a little to a different spot, drop it down again. ive seen some of the nicest pulls using this method since the paper is fairly soft. but im not sure i would pull the fenders with the option of more camber. fender mods are permenant.

Thanks! Your fender knowledge has really helped me out a bunch! I've heard something about that before, I may have to do it just a tiny bit up front because i have a slight rubbing problem on bigger bumps even with the fenders rolled. And I do eventually want to get bigger wheels, probably 19's and a little wider and honestly I just want to try out this method because it seems fun haha.
I really wish you guys could see the car in person, Im gonna try my best to get some pictures that really do the car justice

I think I may need to trade out the front springs for something heavier, I hit the bumpstops pretty often now. They're 400's right now so I might go get some 450's. Also theres a guy on clubgp with coils but he has the koni inserts that aren't offered anymore and I've been wanting to look into them because theyre shorter than stock and that could help me go lower :th_biggrin2:
