Bakerdd"s '99 GT: Project stance

boosty: you need more camber or you gotta pull the hell out of your fenders (which will leave them stupid looking if you ever go back to a normal sized wheel/tire).

baker: usually when i see people go to smaller widths they stick with the same aspect ratio. any reason why you chose 225/40 over 225/45? (for instance, the 'proper' tire on a 18" wheel for my subaru is a 245/40/18 and people just downsize the width and run 215/40/18 on their wheels instead. from there they factor in camber and rolling/pulling fenders for clearance.)

On the tires I posted specs of them at that size. It showed "Overall Diameter: 25.1" which would be alot shorter, but hopefully you can get them traded and be sitting the way you wanted.
Tire size calculator

^ Is my favorite Tire Size Calc, it actually uses Java to show an overlay difference between stock and where you would be with the tire you choose. So plug in 225/60/16 and then play until you get where you like, then search for tires.

Good luck.

I just need to get my car over to my friend's shop on the alignment rack and tell him to go to town. He knows what I want lol.

id love to stance the gp but it takes alot of money. i had a little over 3k in rims and coils on my mr2.. i just dont think i could spend that again lol

looks great so far though. keep it up!

Honestly it's just me being stupid and not double and triple checking things. I totally forgot that the stretch would make them shorter, but hopefully I can get something sorted out with the tires pretty soon

thats what i was worried about. if you go from ~26.5'' tall tire to a ~25'' tall tire, youre 0.75'' lower but you gain 0.75'' more wheel gap. post pics of how much poke you even have. im really starting to think 19's would be better to stance a gp.

Sorry, I was kinda busy worrying about the tires and only took one picture of the poke. This is raised up on the jack but I think they fit pretty good.

Thanks man! Haha yeah I feel ya, I don't really buy much of anything else though so this kinda makes up for it i guess. Or at least thats what I tell myself lol

why do so many w-body owners hate stanced cars? loool

Looks goofy (most cases that I have seen) 99% of the cars its done to are impractical, unusable cars. I am willing to bet this car gets driven almost every day, so why do something you can barely use on a public street? I would've gone lower yet had I known it would not have bothered me in daily driving the car.

Not only that but when a car is riding on the sidewall, its also kind of silly.

Decent drop and meaty tires FTW. Junk in trunk FTL.

lots and lots and lots of people daily drive their uber low cars. i drove mine for 8 months last year trimming the bottom of my car off one scrape at a time. it was fun.

some people like it, some people dont.

I like some stanced cars, to a point. Some I wouldn't personally drive when it becomes annoying to get over speed bumps, but I do want my car lower.

the problem with the stance game is that people keep trying to push the limits of what they can and cannot run. i like a more cleanly stanced car where you dont have to run excessive camber to get the wheels to fit, but it seems to be the trend. im more into tucking and being flush than running something obscene.

the spec's on the OPs wheels are going to fit into the 'just right' category once it is all finished.

Even now, my **** drags on speed humps big enough.. I have to go into entrances cockeyed to not scrape ****.

^That.

It's a clean suspension setup, but that car isn't very low IMO.

Looks about like my blue car did, about a 1.5-1.75" drop all around...enough to notice, but not enough to notice it when I'd go through parking lots or stuff.

It took speed bumps just fine.

i like it cuz im 1.75'' low as well. up front. and i dont scrape. and it looks boss. and you can see it in my sig and be jelly.

Alright guys, I have an update here. The guy I got my tires from was real nice about the whole situation and I was able to swap tires and I only had to pay a very small difference in the price. I also had some 350# springs that were up front before I got 400# so i swapped out the 300# rears for them.

They're Goodyear Eagle LS-2 225/50/18. Im a little disappointed that they stretch less than the Toyo's and it doesn't look as "cool" but they're definitely a much better size.

Here's how they fit with the coil's sitting at a pretty comfortable height, I still have room to go a little bit lower and I'll have plenty of room to tuck the tire a little bit once I get my fenders rolled. Hopfully I'll be able to borrow a friend's roller tomorrow.

I'm really liking how the rears fit

I slotted the rear coils a bit for some slight camber. I may need some more, but I'll check on that later and I still need to slot the fronts.

I also went to the pick a part and got a passenger fender since mine has been bent up for a while. The only problem is that its black haha, so I'll be rocking a black fender for a little bit but it'll be nice and dent free. I'm trying to get that on tomorrow before I pick up the roller.

Also for you guys asking about the mounts, I got a few pictures of the rear mounts
