Waxing Help. Please & Thanks

So just yesterday while i was at work someone hit my car while it was parked. So this gave me the decision to just wax/polish/buff the car.

Scratches after i tried to clean them up good:

So then i ran up to the store and bought a 6in buffer with a 7-step black wax kit that includes Wax and Polish. I also have 1000 and 2000 grit wet sandpaper. Plus i have a heavy/medium turtle wax scratch remover and Ultimate compound

I was thinking i would on monday

1: Wash car
2: Use the Turtle Wax or Ultimate Compound over the whole car with buffer to remove scratches
3: Then use the black wax kit

Is my thought process correct or should i just skip over the scratch remover/compound over the whole car? my car is filled with tiny scratches in the clear coat and some in the paint.
 


I washed clay barred, washed, buffed with ultimate compound, hit the bad spots with scratch x, buffed with polish, then waxed. Turned out really nice.
 
Take all that Turtle Wax crap back. If you've never wet sanded, now isn't the time to learn. If i were you, claybar the entire car, get some Mirror Glaze #2, #7, and your choice of topcoat (#26 will work, for instance) and take your time, and go at it. Also, that scratch looks like it's below the paint surface, so you ain't fixin' that with polishes.


Edit: If you do nothing more than hit it with a cleaner wax, Claybar it first. You'll never get it as slick without the 'bar. It's a 15 minute process.
 
You could ignore all the little scratches until its too much then get the entire car repainted and use the turtle wax black box, porter cable 7424xp and high quality pads, then watch youtube vidoes on how to use the porter cable
 


just a tip, any scratch that you can feel with your finger nail will not come out, but buffing with compound and swirl remover will get rid of fine scratches and swirl marks.

that black wax for black cars may help hide deeper scratches.

Yeah I knew that. I just hope this will hide it better. People are dumba**es, they just have to hit my car
 
i hear ya, i got a nice scuff from some tool, and a a few new door dings, also some jag off thought my car would look better if the side view mirror was shattered as well. but that was all last year, i don't under stand how people can be so careless around other peoples cars. i never let my door fling open, not only to not damage the car next to me but to protect my own door as well.

once it all done and it shines all over, you wont see the bad spots so much, black is good like that.

Yeah its like people just dont care. cause obviously if they hit my car they possibly could of scratched their car too. Its not to hard to avoid other cars, especially if they are parked..

Im going to wash, ultimate compound with buffer, then wax and polish with my black wax and hopefully it all turns out shiny. I will clay bar some time later his summer, ive done it once before.

thats a problem for me, im poor and work part time. lol money is close for being a young lad like myself
 


How long has it been since you last clay barred the car?

Clay barring is the most important part of detailing. Because if you have surface contaminants and drag the buffer over them, your going to do nothing but scratch the surface even more.

Take a zip-lock bag and put it over your hand and go rub the car, this will enhance your feeling of the little debris. If you feel any, you need to clay bar.
