Subwoofer help....

Hi, I am wanting too install subs in my gtp. It has the bose system in it. I see in the back it has two subs on the on the liner thing behind the seats. I was wondering if instead if putting my subs in a box, that I could replace the bose subs with the aftermarket ones? Just a thought.

personally what i would do:
get a new HU
get a 4 channel amp for the mids and highs
get a class D amp for the sub
get a sub
all the wiring and supporting to boot
run new wires to all the speakers from the 4ch amp thus totally bypassing the bose system (can be a real headache)
it will sound allot better and much more up-gradable also can go back to stock easy if you decide to sell

So back to your original question. Although I don't have the Bose system in my car, the woofers look to be mounted on the parcel shelf behind the rear seat in a free air configuration. This is going to be one of the most least desirable ways to hook up a subwoofer as minimum pressure is achieved without a box. Not only that, but only upgrading your speakers will likely actually reduce sound output because the voice could are able to handle so much more power on aftermarket speakers. Long story short, it is going to require a bit more money and time to achieve what you want. Don't listen to these other guys who want you to do the full Monty. If you just want to enjoy a little extra punch, either a line output converter, small amp, 10 or 12 inch sub and sealed or ported box and you would be just fine. Also, I would look into an amplifier with line level inputs, so no line output converter is needed, best of luck to you!

I just want something thats gonna sound good and pretty loud. For a reasonable price.

The nightshade is what I would go with, as the sub new costs 600+$ and a recone is pretty cheap, I'd just rather not ship that big som'*****.

Definitely understandable. Lemme look for a few things around here. My buddy was saying if i find a nice headunit he'll hook me up.
