07 Tundra (Video)

Toyota products, I despise them... And don't even ask me my opinion of their mindless, soul absent drivers... But on topic, I can see the necessity of an AWD Med-duty pickup, particularly in the NW... And if the weather predictions for the Nothern section of the country are at all accurate, I'm definately skiing in Aspen this year. ;) Might keep an eye peeled inthe southern sections of the country for a 4X, as we dumbass rednecks tend to buy shiz for status, rather than necessity- And when the repo man comes knocking, Most dirtneckersons with mini-dirts choose to keep their singlewide, and put the ol' truck up fo' sale.

Stealth edit: Love me some 9C1 Caprice ;)

Well the whole border thing is a PITA sometimes too ( I'm in Alberta) but I found our used market cheaper usually, except for afformentioned repo's. I found an interesting loaded leather 60K 2500HD 6 liter truck asking 16K with new tires. It's worth a phone call and a look as it's on the way to my next weekend destination.

I used to love my 9C1....... then got fed up with it and sold it. I really don't like LT1's anymore after that car, lol. I even lucked out and had a turd with a cracked intake port feeding number 8 cylinder. Only way I would touch one again would be with a LQ4 or LQ9 swap.

LT1s are only tolerable in B-Bodies anyway- I proclaim myself a proud LT1 owner, but with less than 13K miles, the '96 Imp hasn't had a chance to make me hate it as I do the DD LT f-bods I have to wrench on for the general public ;)

It's a sad day when you have to daily an LT1 F-body, or any F-body really. Buy a 4 door ffs

Tolerable...... well i guess. I mean it's a glorified Vortec 350 from a truck anyhow. Yes it's an LT1 because of it's backwards flowing cooling system, optispark and intake design...... But..... GM used the same cam in the B body cars as all Vortec 305/ 350 trucks and the heads chamber and port wise are identical as well to the 906 and 062 Vortec castings. That and it has half a point higher compression than a pickup truck engine. I guess at least it doesn't have that stupid CSFI intake with the goofy spider and poppet valves in the plenum. That's a plus, lol. Or to tick the B body lovers off, a Vortec 350 is a de-glorified LT1, lol. I mean the LT1 was out before the Vortec truck engines ever were. It's all Gen 1 or 2 stuff though and to that I just say PASS!

I love how the Bbody cars look but im not a huge fan of the iron headed lt1 version either. I do remember having interest swappin a lt1 into an original TPI car tho.

Why a sad day? I would love to DD a F-Body :D

Several friends have them as the DDs

F-bodies suck as dailys. I have several friends who DD theirs too, but I'd rather tote a daily asswhippin' than do it.

All that not withstanding, they get shiz done in a 4200 LB sled quite handily.

And I don't see me parting with this one anytime soon.

Meh, they are no faster than a reg cab short box or long box for that matter 2wd Vortec 350 truck. 15 seconds and something....... Kinda like most GTP's, lol. A 5.3 powered 2wd 1/2 ton short box would easily shut one down stock for stock. The lameo 3.08 gears are useless in those cars though. Even dropping to 3.42 in mine made it feel like it had 100 more horsepower lol. I found the high speed stuff bunk for using 3.08's, I mean it's a 260 HP 350 and anything above 110 ish mph is P71 Vic slow making it pointless to even continue. 3.73's would have probably been even better but with a 27" tall tire 3.42 is a good all around gear.

None the less a clean low mile one is beauty either way!

Clearly either mine is nanofast, or something was up with yours... That big beeotch will handily scoot right up to 145-150 without any risk to it's composure- And P71? Psh, that's a challenge for my 2.2 Sonoma-those things are lethargic. That one went 14.6 last year at Super Chevy, and 14.671 in December '95 with 112 miles on the clock.

And again, for the amusement of all, here's the P71 posse chasing an Imp with those loathsome 3.08s...

Mine ran 15 flat bone stock at my awesome elevation and DA. I don't classify that as anything fast as it's average pickup truck territory. 14.6 bone stock might be attainable at perfect sea level but then 3V 4.6 stangs probably run low 13's there too.

In 1996 they were okay, now they are just boring slow to me. Sorry, after wanting one for so long and then actually owning one for 3 years I am no fan of the cars and never will be again.

Why is everyone so surprised that he lost? Those Tundras are rated a little quicker than a GTP is. 14.7 @ 94 mph. Plus they have 6 speed autos so their top end will be a lot better. The OP's car is practically stock and probably has high miles. That HAI just gave him back the power that his motor once had from the factory. A nice 3.4 set-up with a tune and some headers and that truck will get a train of six 12 inch black dicks ran on it.

I'm not suprised. In addition, I'd rather have a beat down, busted Grand Prix than a Toyota Anything. Lulz at your last line. :D

I'd venture to say the definition of "boring slow" is matter of perspective, as we are generally here to discuss Grand Prix's and the like ;) But,to each their own.
It may not be readily apparent, but I've spent an evening or two at the 1320... and 3V Stangs do run 13's here...On a 150 shot. :th_thumbsup-wink:

This is true, lol. I don't even own a GTP, but I did for about 3 weeks until I decided it would be a better suited car for my girlfriend to replace here ailing 02 GTP. ( Technically now I am just a troll, lol) I need another truck...... and the LQ4 HD's probably run 17's or 18's stock but that doesn't bother me for whatever reason, I still like them. Probably because I buy them with zero expectations much like the GTP. I know you play at the track, and so do I.

And come on at least the poor Mustangs have great cocky attitutdes until there stock S197 runs something like 14.1 @ 90 mph, lol.

You're right! I have a great cocky attitude, and I'm not even anywhere near 14's.

And if the owners of stock S197 3v's are running 14's then they need more seat time to go along with that cocky attitude. As they are capable of mid 13's in stock form, not really fast...but from a Grand Prix owners veiwpoint, it's should at least be some what respectable.

Obviously this doesn't include people like blue, or Mr. wheelstand here, or even Spade, who's grand prix walks mustangs of all kinds. :th_jester:

Not with a 5000' plus DA they sure aren't. Sea level or even good air is a whole different ball game. My track is at 2300' and usually has a DA of double that. A stock S197 is lucky to make a 13.8 or 13.9 and there are more of them at street legals than any other car. Not every one of them is a driver fail but don't get me wrong, a lot of them are. Modded, well it depends on whatever they have done, like anything else.

The few Terminators that ever were at the track weren't cocky that I met, and beat up on a lot of guys that were. I just find your average pillar gauge equipped S197 (that's still naturally aspirated) that thinks he is hot $hit getting shut down repeatedly is good for him. The $hit eating grin ends quickly replaced with am angry peel out of the staging lanes entrance and head for the highway run.

Some people just can't go somewhere and try and have fun, lol.
