txslow6's 97 TGTP

Re: txslow6's 97 GTP

I plan on making an outing this fall with the new setup hopefully. I'll be tracking both cars just to see what difference the new blower setup made and how much difference the snail is going to make vs. the way it's still now...(N/A and epicly slowsauce LOL)

That's a 12's run though...or damn close to it with an 8.1x

Re: txslow6's 97 GTP

Forgot to post weather/track info in case anyone is curious.

90+ degrees, 3600DA, 30% humidity, elevation 600 feet.

Re: txslow6's 97 GTP (track videos added)

Damn man! Looks like it moves out pretty good.

Sending you a PM.

Re: txslow6's 97 GTP (track videos added)

My boost gauge has never functioned properly so I swung by the parts store and got a new one. Car is set at 10 PSI, Going to fix that nonsense. Need to scan it as I should be good for around 15-16 PSI. :) All this untapped power and I assume my numbers and track times possibly were all around 10 PSI? Maybe the drop in PSI could be from putting the rest of the exhaust back on?

Also, I finally reinstalled the catback so no more race car noise. I'll have to get a cutout, but the BOV sounds nice.

Buying some 1.9's from Tengis and I'm on the prowl for a stainless plog. So if you are reading this and have one you want to sell send me a pm. :)

Yea for more parts. Ordered a turbo blanket from Titan Motorsports. Also found someone demodding and bought a plog.

Forgot I had a MAF block off plate laying around and went ahead and installed that as well:

Upped boost to 12.5 PSI through the adjustable wastegate.
I'll be posting install pictures within the next couple of weeks of the 1.9 rockers, plog, drilled/slotted rotors, pads, and turbo snuggie.

Can't wait to feel what difference it makes. :)
Car is up due for a repaint of the bumper cover, hood, and fenders. Will probably end up doing that in Spring along with the L26 top swap unless it's sold. Then it will be time to pick up some 65lbers and have the car retuned and dyno'd.

The car had been progessively squealing louder and louder so it was time to replace the tensioner:

Re: txslow6's 97 GTP

Hopefully I'll be ableto update this thread again soon as I have a plog, 1.9 rockers, wideband, and a trans cooler waiting to be installed.

I did find some time yesterday to install the poly upper engine mounts. :)

I ordered these from wbody store due to the price compared to ZZP. Unfortunetly they only come in red, but for the price they could be pink for all I care. :D

Since my driveway is inclined fairly well I opted to do these one at a time:

What's left of the stock ones:

I'm not gonna lie that was a big PITA. Getting them through involved multiple beatings with a hammer. The first mount was lubed with liquid wrench. The 2nd one I used oil which seemed to work a little better.

I was gonna do the plog as well, but for whatever reason it decided to finally rain. :th_angry2:

I'm planning on going to the dragstrip on Thursday night so I'll post updated times later this week.

I still need to order new valve springs as the ones on the engine are 193,XXX miles old and are in dire need of being upgraded. I'll probably go with the L76 springs.

Re: txslow6's 97 GTP

Vibration really isn't that bad and is barely there. I think most of that has to do with using factory dogbones. On one of my previous GP's I had poly bushings in the upper mounts along with the ZZP billet dogbones and there was a significant amount of vibration felt and heard in the passenger compartment. These however keep the sound and feel at a very comfortable level.

Re: txslow6's 97 GTP

when i did my poly dogbones i just took a sawzall to the rubber ones lol it made quick work of them.

Honestly that's the easiest way to do it. Unfortunetly I didn't have one and was left with using a crappy knife.:th_angry2: And if anyone has access to a press it makes the task more efficient and quick as well. :)

Went to the Dyno today: Nothing impressive 11 PSI 286hp 418tq- have a feeling the tq is off due to convertor flash.

Fuel has been leaking badly at the top of the fuel rail where the 3/8ths line connects.
