• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Damn the Dealership is stupid!!!

While I can't argue that the service manager probably didn't know what's going on....if you've read anything here, you'd know that they don't service parts on the blowers at the dealership, including a pulley. So I hardly see what makes him a tard for not knowing where to start regarding your pulley.
Far as the filter goes...if it's an oil bath filter, then they do cause issues with the MAF, since people tend to over oil them, or they come with too much oil.

Hardly seems like the guys fault is all I'm saying.

Ive only been here and owned a GP for less than 30 days so I didnt know or have read that the dealership doesn't service s/c parts. The service manager said that they can order the new pulley and do the swap so they must have the ability to do so.

My major problem with the SM is his arrogance and the way he talked down to me like i didnt know what i was talking about even after i clearly proved that i had a pretty good knowledge of cars and i had done some research on this one in particular

series I had tiny pulleys because they had an M62 vs the M90.

Isn't a highschool diploma required?

I believe around grade 8 that topic is covered.

Well...if you ask my opinion on the mgr at where my wife works...then I'm not so sure.

He still can't grasp all the things that I've done to my car. The first time I pulled into the drive to pick her up from work he argued with me about how it was even possible to do half the things that's been done. So that argument is still up in the air.

He's just going off of what he's been taught through GM "training" I'm telling you, that you cannot order a pulley for it, nor do they have any way of replacing it. The only way of servicing it according to GM is replacement.

WOW thats going to be an expensive bill for carmax, i told the sevice guy at carmax that i can get a stock pulley for $6 if they can find someone that can swap it. I know i could do it myself but i really dont feel like spending $60 of my own money on something they should cover and doing it myself could mess up the extended warranty

Now you have me concerned for the security of your wife's job.... :|

i love to get a set of headers but i have to ease the wife into the world of cars slowly, she wasnt around when i had a camaro so she dosnt know this side of me and i think she will flip out if i spend $200-$500 on headers for a car i just bought and i think getting it tuned afterwards might mess up the warranty

Him- "well the problem is the pulley is aftermaket and it looks to be a bigger
pulley"
Me- "dont you mean smaller??"
Him- "No i mean bigger, the bigger the pulley the faster it spins the s/c"
Me- :th_wtf: "oh ok....i see"
Him- "we are going to have to order one in but the pulley on there shouldn't really cause any issues but that cone filter, did you put that on??"
Me- "ya"
Him- "ok well do you still have the origional air box?? cause those filter will do more harm than good so you should put the stock part back on"
Me- :th_wtf: :th_thumbsup-wink: "ok i sure will thanks"

I don't know what is worse, him telling you the wrong information or you agreeing with him. Stand up for yourself! I would have told him he didn't know what he was talking about and told him to google "Supercharger" on the internet. When you do go back, tell him that according to GM the supercharger is unserviceable so you want a new one. If he gives you trouble then tell him you want to talk to the service manager.

I didnt really feel like getting into a argument with an arrogant little man at 8 in the morning, sometimes its just easier and the more adult thing to do to just avoid pointless conflict. He was the service manager

But you know you want to... :D

So they real question is why dont you just swap the pulley?

As I said earlier I don't want to have to put up my own money to fix it if Carmax is going to cover it since it's still under the 30 day warranty and I have an extended warranty for 4 years. I don't know how long this car has been ran for with this pulley and no supporting mods so i want the dealership to fix it so my extended warranty stays valid cause I'm going to need it when the motor let's loose

Well...lets yank the plugs out and find out if the engine is fine. That's granted maintenance hasn't been done since the pulley was tossed on there either...

What kind of air filter? If K&N give them a call and leave number to dealership, they will tear them a new one

P.S, get rid of wife, get headers. :p jk

Nobody said you had to be an engineer to be in service. :th_laugh-pointup:

I'm taking this from experience, most people in dealership service don't have a degree in anything. Not a single one at the dealership i worked at did...

Nor have a clue about anything related to basic mechanical principle. It's asshats like the clueless shoe salesman turned service advisor who make the rest of our lives difficult. I snicker when I'm lucky enough to witness that messenger meet the firing squad which is the informed consumer.

It's really not that funny- If you don't know what the F you're talking about, either learn, or find a career that interests you.
